Dutch sunrise

Last couple of weeks we have been exploring in our own country. Due to the corona virus we can not travel abroad but it made us love the Netherlands even more. You often forget to visit the many beautiful locations that are just around the corner. Maybe this summer is the time to visit them. We are proud photo ambassadors of @welkomterugin.nl to promote local toerism that have been struggling in this period. Well it doesn’t get more Dutch than filming windmills. But this was a very special morning with foggy conditions and a golden sunrise.

Rolta Films took a trip through Southern California, hitting up Palm Springs, Joshua Tree, San Diego, Laguna Beach and of course Los Angeles. Taking with us our dear friend Ryan who talks us through his feelings about America and joined by other friends along the way... Yep It's another stupid one

  • You'd be amazed at what you'll see if you simply slow down and look up at the stars. I spent a few nights capturing star time-lapses last weekend in Colorado. It was 20 to 30 degrees f. which made waiting 2 to 3 hours a bit rough but it was well worth it. We all could likely benefit from looking up at the stars instead of down at our phones all the time.

A timelapse movie of clouds rolling over the Dutch landscapes. I started shooting my very first timelapses for this movie. I’ll never forget a friend showed me a timelapse of rolling stormclouds, I was sold instantly. This movie wasn’t yet about creating a story line, in a way it’s collection of clips that I shot throughout the first years of me shooting timelapses, mainly of clouds. To see them move and transform in such speed is mesmerizing to me.
The locations I shot are mostly at and around the area where I used to live, in the middle of the Netherlands. It includes a couple of shots taken at Kinderdijk, the little town famous for their many windmills. Some scenes that show minor hills are taken in the south, the only area of the country that isn’t flat.
Shot with Nikon D700 & D800, Emotimo TB3 and DP Slider. Edited with Photoshop, Lightroom, LRTimelapse & After Effects.

This is the first chapter of a trip along the northern coast of the Iberian Peninsula that I started in Galicia, going through the western half of Asturias, and that I intend to finish in Hendaye, the eastern end of the Cantabrian Sea. Filmed for 11 days in September 2017, it responds to the dream of starting the filming of a film that shows the incredible beauty of these sites. An idea that haunted me long ago by the head. Here is the beginning ...

The Las Cienegas National Conservation Area in Arizona includes more than 45,000 acres of rolling grasslands and woodlands that connect several “sky island” mountain ranges and lush riparian corridors. Located in the heart of the Las Cienegas NCA, the historic Empire Ranch includes a 22-room adobe and wood-frame building which dates to 1870 and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The setting makes it a favorite of classic western film fans. Red River, Duel in the Sun, Hombre, Winchester 73, The Big Country, and many others were filmed on or near the Empire Ranch – still a working cattle ranch to this day.
You can camp in this historic NCA for up to 14 days – just stay at least one-quarter mile from wildlife and livestock watering areas. Check out the two designated primitive camp and picnic areas: Cieneguita Camp Area and Road Canyon Camp.
