From the "Don't try this unless you're 100% ready for it" file - hiking the Grand Canyon, Rim to Rim, in 1 day is nearly impossible for anyone but seasoned, well-prepared, athletic hikers. Here's a clip of doing so. If you want to go rim to rim there (post pandemic), make an appointment to stay at Phantom Ranch at the bottom. Far less likely to die.
Day 27 - 01/27/2016 Grand Canyon-South Rim
Today is a free day at Grand Canyon. I got up around 7:30, took free shuttle bus and did laundry in the morning. Then, I watched a short film at Grand Canyon Visitor center. Later, I took another shuttle to Yaki Point and Pipe Creek. At 2 pm, I caught up a tour at Yavapai Point and Geology Museum. I learned that there are 4 ingredients to form canyon. Rock(Strong and weak); Ocean collision; River/falling water and the location should be in a desert. After that, I hiked on Rim Trail to Verkamp’s Visitor Center which I met a group of elks. Then, I checked out the Hopi House which has a hidden Kiva; Lookout Studio and Kolb Studio. When it’s time for sunset, I walked to the trail-view overlook.
How was Grand Canyon formed? (answer in 2 second!)
-Rivers cut off, sides came down.
