Notice the dark areas of the root on this #megalodon #shark tooth. That was the only thing exposed on the river bottom. The rest of the tooth was pointing straight down in matrix and gravel. I found this tooth while #scubadiving the black water swamps of #Virginia
It’s been about 20 million years since this guy’s last been in the ocean. I figured it was time for a visit :)

Looking forward to more epic days like this. Check out this perfect meg @maddie_shaudys found last week

Check out these two juvenile megalodon teeth found while surface hunting a creek after some rain!!
So today was my first day at my new job–as a DINOSAUR ARTISAN at Treasures of the Earth LTD.!
First day crafting included casting and painting megalodon teeth, fossil frogs, and a narwhal tusk. I also learned how to use putty, fiberglass, catalyst resin, and air-compression tools.
And then there was some prehistoric periodontal painting on this set of megalodon jaws.
I think I’m gonna like it here. :D
And don’t worry–I’ll still be churning out original stuff and hitting cons with geeky stuff. ;)

Moving day for the megalodon jaws. During the museum’s renovations this past winter, this special display was moved from the lobby to a safer location, farther back in the building. Now, guests can see the jaws undergoing their own transformation in the Paleo Prep Lab!
Enormous megalodon tooth
This is one of the biggest teeth I have ever seen come out of a creek. Insanity! Such a pleasure to see this come out of the ground and go to a good home. Great times with @paleocris, @fl_teacher, @stalcup78, @wityobiddy01, and @jimcgov3!

This was one of those finds you had to WORK for. Conditions did not cooperate at all and the cliffs were almost entirely submerged. I walked mostly through mid thigh-high water to the very end where there was huntable beach. This was waiting for me at the end 😁🦈
