natgeotravel Video by @bertiegregory. A big male jaguar taking a drink at sunset. During the dry season in Brazil's Pantanal, the jaguars stick close to the rivers. Not only do these rivers provide drinking water, they also concentrate the jaguar's primary prey- capybara and caiman. As a result, the best way to observe them is by boat. This gives an added benefit for filming as you can use the boat as a giant camera slider to create movement in the shot. Using a gyrostabilised rig and an electric motor, my boatman and I were able to smoothly (and almost silently) glide past giving the shot this rotation. Shot for a @natgeowild jaguar show

natgeo Video by @christian_foto ( Christian Rodriguez ) on assignment in Bolivia for @natgeo magazine. December issue 📸🏞🗞 Sailing the Beni River at the gates of the Madidi National Park, Bolivia. I was on expedition in the Tuichi river with park rangers from Madidi National Park. They carry out surveillance against illegal jaguar poachers. Madidi is part of one of the largest protected areas in the world. Ranging from the glacier-covered peaks of the high Andes Mountains to the tropical rainforests of the Tuichi River, Madidi and its neighbors are recognized as one of the planet's most biologically diverse regions. In particular, Madidi protects parts of the Bolivian Yungas and Bolivian montane dry forests ecoregions.

natgeo Video by @BertieGregory. A waterfall deep in the heart of the unexplored Chiribiquete National Park. I shot this from a helicopter whilst accompanying a team from Fundacion Herencia, an incredible group of people doing real 21st century exploration. It’s very humbling to know that there are still places on this planet we know almost nothing about. This massive area boasts one of the largest protected areas of jaguar habitat in the world. It is also home to ancient paintings of jaguars, representing some of the earliest evidence of humans in South America. But despite its remoteness, it is still under threat. We owe a huge thanks to Parks Colombia and the Colombian Ministry of Culture for their support.

natgeo@natgeo @stevewinterphoto BOOM!!!!!! Look at this sequence of a jaguar swimming, diving and hunting after a caiman on the banks of the pantanal river, Brazil! This was shot as part of my worldwide @natgeo jaguar story (it comes out December 2017!). Jaguars are the most incredible swimmers and are very comfortable in water! We need to realize deep in our hearts that animals like this jaguar have emotions too. If we can treat them better - maybe we could find some empathy inside of us to treat each other better also.

The jaguar belly flop! After such a focussed, measured and intense stalk by this female jaguar, the final leap came as a bit of a surprise! Unfortunately for her and her two little cubs, she missed on this occasion. Stay tuned for our new jaguar show for @natgeowild premiering later this year. Shot for @stevewinterphoto and @natgeo. Follow @bertiegregory for more wildlife adventures.

Video by @bertiegregory. Meet scarface, a huge male jaguar who lives in Brazil’s northern Pantanal. He specialises in hunting caiman, South America’s equivalent of a crocodile. Here, he’s patrolling the river bank in search of his next meal. Check out my profile to see what he’s capable of! Shot on assignment for @stevewinterphoto, @natgeo and @natgeowild. Follow @bertiegregory for more videos from our jaguar project.
