Tour of just a small portion of the large samples on display at this year's Tucson Gem and Mineral Show from February (Just before the whole world went 2020). There is an awful lot of quartz in this video

Walkin’ in a crystal wonderland 🎶. This has all been so overwhelming! We’ve met the people behind some incredible shops, and we even got to meet one of the Faceted Fam today! We’re beyond stoked to start unveiling our finds. Very grateful for this experience. Stay tuned y’all! 🖤
Flashing back to a time just before the world shut down - the 2020 Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, perhaps the most famous rock show on the planet.

Bought a fossilized whale ear bone at Earthly Elements in Fredrick, cant say I've seen these at any of the other gem stores in the area
Hi! I really enjoy this blog. I subscribed after reading "The Ends of the World" because I was so fascinated by the stories about deep time. I'm not a scientist of any sort! I'm a teacher and I love fossils and geology and such. I'd like to purchase some fossils to go in my classroom, but I'm wary of spending a lot of money on a dubious source. Do you know of a good fossil source or website that's open to purchases from the public? Thank you for running an excellent blog! It's appreciated!
I don’t believe that you have much to worry about with “dubious fossil sources” for the purposes of buying something for a classroom. If you were wanting to buy a dinosaur skeleton or an unbelievable display specimen that’s something different and a lot more money involved so there’s a lot more risk in thtose, but if you’re trying to find a few ammonites and trilobites to show off to students you can find those pretty regularly from almost any rock shop.Do you have a local rock shop? That’s probably the easiest. Are you near a city where there is a gem and mineral society that puts on any sort of yearly show? Reputable dealers show up at those all the time, Google your city and “Gem and mineral society” or “Gem and mineral show” and see if that pops up. I’ve noted that there is at least one really good rock shop page here on Tumblr and they run their own internet fossil shop - @fossilera

Some pictures for the Gem and Mineral Expo!
My father and I went to the Denver Gem and Mineral Show. These are some of the specimen minerals and rocks that we saw at the show. And yes, that emerald was about the size of an apartment air conditioner.
Oh look what I bought (Among other things).
I went to a rock show and had a wonderful time!! I bought a few things and I might show them off later..!
The guardians of the rose quartz path
This is truly awesome.
entertheearth(Part 2/2) Every year thousands of people visit our tent at the Tucson gem show, including many families and local school groups. The past few years we’ve put out a pathway of Rose Quartz rough, so children can take a piece home. Here’s a short time lapse video of us setting it up, on a very windy day. The wholesale division of Enter the Earth is at the Kino Sports Complex gem show in Tucson, formerly known as Electric Park. We’re tent #23. The show is open from January 26th, 2018 until February 11th, 2018.
I wish they spent more time on the GIANT PILE OF AMMONITES, but hey, it’s fossilfriday and we’re a month or so from the 2018 Tucson Gem and Mineral Show so let’s get in the mood!
