How fog can support life At night, a ghostly fog creeps over the dunes of the Skeleton Coast, Namibia. A black onymacris beetle climbs to a dune summit where the fog is densest, angles its head to the ground and waits as the fog starts to condense on its sloping back. Eventually, enough moisture gathers to form one drop, which rolls down to the beetle’s mouth.
