A federal judge just exonerated Breonna Taylor's murders and ruled that Americans do not have 2nd Amendment rights against police officers. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/breonna-taylor-kenneth-walker-judge-dismisses-officer-charges/
i said this back in 2020 when i lived in louisville—what this means is cops can legally come in your home and murder you with impunity—y’all think this is a joke because it happens to black people until it happens to you and ur kin too. so the question is, what are we gonna do about it?
"y’all think this is a joke because it happens to black people until it happens to you and ur kin too."
People joke, call Black women that tell the truth and uncover white supremacy's long game (Sydette Harry, I will cite you, RIP Shafiqa Hudson) all types of monstrous and ignorant, decide that Black people are Russian bots, which interestingly enough, would be completely in the interest of Russia, insult, threaten. And then one day it's the hangover and everybody asks "how the fuck did it happen ?" And I'm not theorizing here. I'm talking about what I've witnessed since around 2014.
And who enforces this? Is it just a few bad apples, or is it all cops?
How hard is it for them to find cops willing to enforce this? Do they have to sift through hundreds of heroic cops who refuse until they find the one cop who's monstrous enough to enforce this, or do they easily find cops willing to enforce this because monstrous cops are everywhere and being a monster is part of the job?
"All cops are bad" is not a stereotype. It's literally a requirement for the job that every single one knew about.
Long before acab trended I was told “there’s no such thing as a good cop” by a farmer in my hometown. He explained that a cop has to either enforce bad laws or selectively apply the law according to their own judgment. They could either be bad at their job or a bad person, but it had to be at least one.
i work in a homeless shelter in a slightly red-of-purple town in a blue overall state. nearly every morning at check out during our (unfortunately not year round, fingers crossed our rental agreement changes this year though) season, the cops would circle around the block. i constantly heard stories from guests about getting harassed by cops. we offered the influx of donated tents out to guests during the last week, and at least one guest refused, because he didn't know where he'd put it that the cops wouldn't tear it down. do not fucking tell me that the cops in fucking goddamn florida wouldn't enforce this. the "progressive" cops in my town certainly would.
straight up cartoonishly fucking evil corporation

tl;dr: The server at a restaurant on Disney property assured the couple that certain food items were free of dairy and nut contamination and the woman died of severe anaphylaxis shortly after consuming foods they were repeatedly assured were safe. The epi pen they had did not save her life because the food was absolutely contaminated with what were, for her, deadly allergens. And Disney is trying to corporate capitalist their way out of legal accountability.
It is pretty clear cut that they did, in fact, cause this woman’s death. And her husband is asking for $50k in the wrongful death suit to cover the medical and funerary expenses as well as the mental anguish they caused. A modest $50k, not 50 million. A company worth 156.43 billion dollars is trying to dismiss the suit based on a 5 year old free Disney+ trial instead of giving this man what he’s asking for, a fraction of the amount he deserves.
I hope this makes everyone think twice before visiting the park or bringing their child to the park, especially if you or your loved one has an allergy or disability. Disney will kill you remorselessly, refuse to take accountability and traumatize your loved ones further.
Gruesome Newsom at it again

A trans person was assaulted for trying to comply to transphobic demands on going to the "correct" bathroom. And the response from transphobes was merely that she deserved it. That it's "boys just fighting". That this is so that women are kept safe.
I know this site is full of TERFs. And so, I want to focus the attention towards you. Your belief system is just very disjointed. Women should have their own spaces and defeat the patriarchy. Yet somehow men are inherently powerful and violent. We should dismantle the patriarchal system. Yet "boys fighting" is acceptable, even as one person is a trans femme that was attacked. No matter how patient and compassionate people can be towards you, you vilify us and support men that do this to us. You are not fighting for women's rights. Likely your movement will hinge back to racism if we ever get wiped out as you seek us to be. Your ideas won't protect lesbians. They won't protect black women. They won't even protect you.
We can't use a public restroom. We can't use locker rooms. Are we going to be a threat to you just for existing publicly at some point? As cis men and women murder us and rape us?
And I want to know, where does that help you? If we get killed off are you going to be safer from cis men? Is this fun to you? Trying to ruin our lives? To tell us how we're supposed to feel and identity? Do you know why we start having violent responses to our abusers? Do you not realize you are behaving like the said men you despise?
Your movement is rotten. It's protecting men. And it's endangering us. All I can say is go fuck yourselves for all of this.
i don't know how to tell you this, but the reason they want trans women to use mens spaces and be forced to be subject to this kind of violence is because they want that violence to happen to us. they are not actually worried about whether or not cis women and girls are or are not safe. the point is to force us to be exposed to harm
you simply will not get anywhere with them by arguing that the consequences of their actions are the things they want to happen.
they want us to be assaulted and hurt and killed.
telling them that they are causing us to be assaulted and hurt and killed will not get them to change.
Will those who were glad the French could vote out fascism speak up about this now
Even with a supposed left wing government France is falling right back into its Islamophobic ways.
this is what i've been saying, we didn't "vote out" fascism. we just prevented it from getting worse. the fascism is still there, and even the left is and has always been terrible to ethnic and religious minorities. especially muslims.
the way i usually explain it to the uninformed is, islamophobia is to france what transphobia is to the uk. muslims (and especially muslim women) are barred from existence in public spaces through bans on religious clothing under the guise of "laïcité", a concept that roughly translates to "secularism" though the french word carries more specific meanings.
islamophobia runs rampant in every party, and french people largely do not see a problem with it. or they'll say it's not actually islamophobic, that muslims just unfortunately and coincidentally ended up suffering from these laws, like how the ban on burkinis was originally pushed as a health issue in public pools.
of course this didn't change anything. why would it. the same left wing politicians we elected were part of the reason why the hijab got banned in the first place. the ones who say they are against it aren't doing much, opting to merely say it's a minor issue we can talk about later once the REAL problems are dealt with.
i am speaking as a french jew. if you were celebrating the victory against the RN, take the time to speak up on behalf of our muslim siblings. especially now that the world's eyes ended up on my country more than usual due to the election and the olympics, it's important everyone knows how bad it is for them here.
this is probably a strange train of thought but A short history of transmisogyny talking about the way colonial police officer talked about arresting Hijra, stripping them, shaving their heads and forcing them into mens clothing is making me think again about the way that our society sees masculinity as a favour to people? like by forcing someone back into the role of "man" you're helping them and empowering them even if they don't want it.
just sorta vaguely in the direction of the whole thing of like "well you see being forced to wear womens clothes is seen as humiliation, being forced to wear mens clothes is seen as lifting you up in status".
idk quite how to describe it but yea like being forcibly detransitioned as a transfeminine person is seen as like....dragging you out of being weak and confused and pathetic back into "the real world" and the position society insists you must fulfil, no matter how miserable it makes you and no matter how much they hate you as a man too. like it's not even out of "kindness" it's obviously hateful, but it's justified almost as "putting a man in his place" in a way that makes cisgendered people feel powerful.
it's weird cus it feels like people don't really talk about that forcible detransition in the form of being forced to be a "man". i know people do but it definitely doesn't feel like it's seen as violence in quite the same way? I'm not really sure how to word it. like there's more societal tolerance for being forced to be a man no matter how much you Don't want to be and "man up" is the catchphrase of men enforcing patriarchy on eachother since day one.
like "masculinity is violence" seems to apply to misgendering a trans woman and saying you're scared of her, but not to when she's A) being forced into masculine roles by everyone around her and B) forcibly detransitioned i guess
i could never be a man, every time i have been forced into that role it has been an act of violence against me that noone fucking recognises (even other queer people) because they see being forced into the role of a man as "the easy way out".
it drives me insane like even people who acknowledge misgendering and degendering as a fucked thing and understand why it hurts don't seem to acknowledge it as a violent enforcement of societal gendering and the labelling of me as a target. because "at least they saw you as a guy" as if a transfem being treated as a man is a mercy or a kindness? how the fuck is it so difficult to acknowledge the violence there? if you can do it for everyone else, why not us? patriarchy infests people's understanding of transmisogyny even when they admittedly know it's bad. it's infuriating
israel tries to hide its military failures and losses by murdering children and civilians in their tents so they can have a *number of casualties* to report with and pretend they did something.

On a separate note, I think it's worth posting this article as well titled Microsoft killed my online life after I called Gaza.
this might be the most insane thing in the history of the entire US actually
the corrupt SCOTUS now ruled that “The nature of Presidential power entitles a former President to absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for actions within his conclusive and preclusive constitutional authority. And he is entitled to at least presumptive immunity from prosecution for all his official acts. There is no immunity for unofficial acts.”
on god we’re backsliding into presidential autocracy during independence day week
Israel just grazed the last greenhouses in Gaza. While we are getting distracted by the US election circus, this is happening
