The sky arcs above them, an endless swath of black dotted with with little pinpricks of light, and Pippa points out the constellations she can recognize—Cassiopeia, Virgo, Leo, useless now, because they’re taught from grade school that stars should be projected onto a three-dimensional map meant for warp travel. Kat follows her finger and squints up at the sky, and the more Pippa talks about them, the more she can almost see them. She gets it now, why people want to look at the little white dots in the big bowl above and make them into something…
“We’re going to be up there soon,” Pippa breathes.
Kat looks at her, and her eyes are full to the brim with stars, like there’s a whole universe in there, and Kat suddenly can’t breathe.

Katrina Cornwell was a Starfleet Vice Admiral during the Klingon War. Cornwell had a background in psychology and served as a counselor prior to her time with Starfleet Command. During the war, Cornwell acted as an ambassador of the Federation attempting to open peace talks, and leader of a strategic task force; she temporarily assumed command of Discovery when its late captain was revealed to be an imposter.

Okay but, hear me out, last time we saw the bowl of fortune cookies was in Lorca’s captains quarter and not in their conference room, so now I imagine a furious Kat rushing through the Discovery with a bowl of fortune cookies in her hands while people frantically dodge out of her way.
