Our Republic are petitioning the Scottish Parliament to end legal loopholes for the Monarchy.

The former Queen and new King’s lawyers can refuse to sign off on laws unless the Scottish Government exempts the Monarchy. Basically the King can hold back progress unless the Scottish Government writes into law that the monarchy doesn't actually have to follow it.

Welsh council votes to abolish Prince of Wales title

"This archaic oppressive tradition is a blight on our nation and has been for centuries. It gives the impression that the people of Wales are owned by the system, rather than being free citizens living in our own country... It makes no sense, in my view, that so much public money is used to sustain the royal family, including the Prince of Wales role, given the cost of living crisis that our people are suffering up and down the country." said the councilor behind the motion

Last month King Charles named his son William as the new Prince of Wales in his first public address as monarch. The title has been controversial since the last Welsh Prince of Wales, Dafydd ap Gruffydd, was brutally killed in 1283 on the order of Edward I of England, who later gave his 16-year-old son Edward II the title.

Gwynedd councilors voted by 46 to four in support of Mr ap Elwyn's motion while four abstained, the BBC reports.

Their names were Nerissa and Katherine Bowes-Lyon. They were kept in the Royal Earlswood Hospital, formerly known as "The Asylum for Idiots". Burke's Peerage listed them both as deceased in the 1940s but Nerissa died in 1996 and Katherine died in 2014.

The hospital had no record of any visit from the family during the time the sisters were there, and they never received a birthday or Christmas card. They also received no money beyond the £125 paid to the hospital per year.

Conceptually Project London Bridge is kind of fucked up if you think about it. They purposely didn’t tell people about the death of the Queen until the signal went out for the BBC to announce it. This was the video on the BBC which was cut into by the broadcast:

Had a twenty-minute "totally-not-an-argument" with my mother yesterday over the royal family.

In the end, she concluded that I "probably hadn't researched the monarchy enough" and that my belief that "the French had the right idea" is a product of "unwarranted cynicism."

Meanwhile, my friend just texted me in floods of tears, letting me know the appointment she waited over a year for, for nerve ablation, was just canceled because of the royal funeral.

Surgeries and operations are being cancelled on the day of the queen’s funeral. These patients will have been on a waiting list for months if not years.

Everyone should be absolutely seething with rage.
