so this meal an organic vegetable farmer made when I came to visit my brother Adam who was wwoofing on his farm in oliver, bc
Adam asked if i could come visit (because i hadnt seen him for a year) and the farmer said yes and when he heard I was vegan he made a fully vegan dinner that he invited us to, which was so nice! because all the wwoofers and everyone there ate the vegan dinner and enjoyed it. shawn stayed with the dogs in a trailer but during the dinner we were just talking (i was so awkard im sure) and i mentioned i studied horticulture and love plants and he made a joke about how he has a deal for me about parking our trailer in return for harvesting kale and within a week we ended up moving there
this meal had jasmine rice, asparagus, tofu with bokchoy and nori, and a cauliflower salad i didn’t like but everything else was really good! i learned a ton during my 8 months on that farm, become friends with pigs and was even able to rescue one of them. i got a glimpse into the world of organic farming and how kale & other veggies get from seed to store and it was really cool to be a part of the entire process for the first time. oh and it was my first time living in the canadian desert and extreme heat like that and being around wildfires and seeing cactus everywhere and mountain goats was really incredible! and snakes and of course all the medicinal plants and special desert plants like arrowleaf balsamroot that i had never seen before and the tallest stinging nettle I’ve ever seen
