Herbal Medicine is not witch craft. Herbal medicine is the study of botany and the use to benefit the body. Plants have been used as medicine and food since the beginning of time as they still are today. Many cultures have specialized plant medicines that are the furthest thing from those wanting to dabble in the occult. If you are serious about studying herbal medicine, seek out accredited schools or certified teachers (and books and web pages of same) and leave the other behind.

What is a herbalist and how do you become one? Thanks :)

an herbalist is a person who grows, collects, or specializes in the use of herbs, especially medicinal herbs :) I personally got my chartered herbalist diploma through dominion herbal college, it’s completely online and it was a one year program that cost a bit more than $1000.

I actually just enrolled in another herbal course through the herbal academy, it’s wayyyy cheaper and it seems way more interactive than the one I’ve done in the past. it’s only $65 per month for 3 months (for me it’s $80 for 3 months because I live in Canada) and then you have one whole year to complete the program :) and it’s open to anyone no matter what part of the world you live in! and they have an introductory and intermediate herbal course which is awesome. I only enrolled less than a week ago but I can already recommend them and I am really enjoying this and it’s a really great platform with tons of photos, videos, information and it’s just super thorough. there’s just a super great community on there and if you are new to herbalism I would definitely recommending doing this program instead of the one that I mentioned above. it’s way cheaper, newer, and just more fun. with the last course I did through dominion herbal college all you do is read out of a text book, answer some questions online, and then do an exam at the end of the year and it’s just no where near as enjoyable as the current course I’m taking through the herbal academy :)

If you are interested, PLEASE click this link! If you do end up signing up for any program or course if you use that link I’ll get 15% of the cost which is always nice, you’re paying the money anyways so this way the herbal academy will just send me 15% for helping them get more traffic and students :)

hey emily im thinking of doing a herbalism course, could you tell me what its like? and what to expect?

oh you definetely should! so idk what one you are thinking about doing, but I did mine through dominion herbal college. it’s only like $1200 or something for a 1 year online diploma, which is actually soooo cheap. it was all at your own pace which is really nice :) idk what other courses are like, but I’m going to tell you what mine was like:

there are 3 parts to the course: the first part is learning about the human body and all the parts and functions and everything, and it’s pretty short. and then the second part takes the longest, and that is explaining all of the different herbs with a description of what they look like and where they are grown, along with it’s benefits and its medicinal uses and how to use them :) and then the third part is pretty short but it’s basically a bunch of recipes and extra information and stuff!

it was super insightful and I learned sooo much about the different uses for different herbs and what herbs are best for different illnesses and sicknesses, and of course I don’t remember everything I learned about, but it doesn’t matter because I still have the textbooks to look back on whenever I want to look up a specific herb! overall it wasn’t hard and didn’t take up much time at all, all the assignments are done online and were open book so that was nice. and the exam was also online. I hope that helped a bit??

With all our boasted knowledge, we have to admit that the native African, and the North American Indian, in his native state, unskilled in letters, without any knowledge of anatomy, physiology or chemistry, wrought cures with simple herbs which baffle the best efforts of the medical schools.

What a blessing it would be to the homes of this land if our children were taught the value of Raspberry Leaves, Thyme, Sage, Peppermint, Yarrow, and a dozen other wayside herbs. Only those who know the value of herbal remedies and have seen them work wonders when all else has failed can possibly imagine the wonderful effects a common knowledge of the herbs we tread underfoot daily would produce.
