while i'm in no way supportive of any state or regional centralized government (as they maintain their power by keeping their own people impoverished) i think that as someone who lives inside of the US i am first and foremost against the imperialism of the United States who took this land by force and continues to wage war after war, destabilizing countries for capitalism and to create global trends favorable to the US government in order to secure more power and resources (not for the people bound within this region) but for all its capitalist beneficiaries (namely the political system and its careerist representatives, the private contractors, monopolies and certain NGO or not for profit entities). that being said i am against all imperialism, against any military occupation of any nation state whether through genocide of its own people or through continued conquest. US commentary on these crisis such as in Ukraine or Venezuela that seeks to compare or analyze the actions of respective governments without first exposing the critical and contributing factors of US intervention, meddling, and consistent sabotage and destabalization ignores our responsibility living under this empire. amerikan propaganda would hav the public believe that for whatever political reason (such as moral and media manipulation) that intervention is necessary.

our task is to expose that intervention has been occurring and has been deliberate to create hazardous conditions to justify open US aggression and occupation. Further "intervention"  especially under these circumstances by the US (and granted, most) government is nothing other than state sponsored terrorism and genocide. Since most victims of US imperialism are non white countries such as Libya, Syria and Iraq the US government (despite its claim to democracy) is willing to use whatever means necessary to support its beneficiaries even through fascism (private means/benefit, seemingly public governance, and an agenda of white supremacy and obliteration).

I recommend Even the Rain (Tambien la Lluvia), a film about making a film about the colonization of the americas by christopher columbus while on site in bolivia during a domestic water dispute between the state and the local indigenous people. Fascinating parallels on colonization, exploitation because the actors for the film project in this film are indigenous performing scripted resistance of history while agitating and uprising against the privatization of water in their immediate reality. Conflict arises between scheduled filming/completion of the film and the narrative of the people losing their water and building indigenous resistance. Culture jammed as fuck.

The real problem such movements face is that they always get taken by surprise by the speed of their initial success. We are never prepared for victory. It throws us into confusion. We start fighting each other. The ratcheting of repression and appeals to nationalism that inevitably accompanies some new round of war mobilization then plays into the hands of authoritarians on every side of the political spectrum. As a result, by the time the full impact of our initial victory becomes clear, we’re usually too busy feeling like failures to even notice it. The inevitable result was a series of heated strategic debates. But it’s impossible to understand this though without first understanding that strategic debates, within directly democratic movements, are rarely conducted as such. They almost always take the form of debates about something else. Take for instance the question of capitalism. Anti-capitalists are usually more than happy to discuss their position on the subject. Liberals on the other hand really don’t like to have to say “actually, I am in favor of maintaining capitalism”, so whenever possible, they try to change the subject. So debates that are actually about whether to directly challenge capitalism usually end up getting argued out as if they were short-term debates about tactics and non-violence. Authoritarian socialists or others who are suspicious of democracy itself don’t like to make that an issue either, and prefer to discuss the need to create the broadest possible coalitions. Those who do like democracy but feel a group is taking the wrong strategic direction often find it much more effective to challenge its decision-making process than to challenge its actual decisions.
