We are accused of perversion any time we try and have an open and transparent conversation about sex and sexuality.
Because so much of our social hierarchies rely on shame and secrecy.
Education about sexuality would literally unravel the entire society.
Believe it or not, children engage in sexual activity.
This is true and [only a] controversial statement because of ADULT sexual predators who utilize victim-blaming to naturalize their abuse!
Every day care worker knows children engage in sexual touching of themselves and others.
The issue is the intentional conflation of sexual activity and sexual abuse!
You inadvertently do this when you LIE and pretend like 1. Children aren’t sexual 2. Sexual abuse occurs because of sexualness and not rather the imbalance of power and intentional harm by others sexually
So the default response to sexual abuse is that
“it shouldn’t happen because children are innocent and they don’t know about sex”
Wrong wrong wrong
INNOCENCE IS NOT THE RELEVANT QUALITY HERE.
Even children who aren’t “innocent” don’t deserve sexual abuse.
NOBODY DOES
By trying to maintain so-called innocence, we [are] all encouraged to actively keep children ignorant and ironically ill-equipped to understand and RESIST abuse.
