Not the lax bro in my high school Gothic Literature class saying he thinks Dracula might be “ . . . homosexual” for Jonathan Harker. Like buddy was trying so hard not to sound offensive he made it worse. Did you not remember the assembly where we said the word homosexual is kinda problematic due to a history of being used as a mental illness. Anyway he was right Dracula can very easily be read as trying to romance Jonathan Harker.

Idk how people find this old post like once a week but I will say as a closeted 15 year old nothing can describe how much confidence it gave me that everyone agreed with me. That it’s all bullshit. I was so angry and frustrated at the world not taking me seriously, and the thousands and thousands of people reblogging showed me that I wasn’t alone. I wasn’t crazy and heteronormativity is all bullshit. Being queer is as natural as breathing air.
Had an argument a few months ago wherein the other person claimed that saying a kid could be asexual was Sexualizing Children because children shouldn’t be thinking about sex, and so they couldn’t know that they were asexual.
I started identifying as asexual when I was 12, and knew before that that there was a thing other people felt that I didn’t - that’s just when I found the word.
Glad to know I’m not the only one! She was one of the fictional female characters I was “queerly” obsessed with as a child
