So coming out to my parents as a transgirl was pretty traumatic but not for the reasons you may think. My parents accepted me as trans without batting an eye. My mom said something about "always wanting -" and then ran away crying. My dad went after her to calm her down, and that's when my grandpa decided to tell us all that we have a dead half-sister. Apparently, my mom was raped as a teenager and had daughter who was later murdered. And she never told us because she didn't want us to worry about her, but grandpa figured we should know.
