it’s interesting because i used to like steggy. i think ’first avenger’ steggy is great. they had chemistry, they worked. but are the prime example of a ship that after a while doesn’t work and should not end up together. they fell in love and their ending was tragic because they never got a chance for a real relationship, they were pulled away over literally decades. sad. sure. but it happened and they both moved on.
this isn’t just about steve. we’ve seen peggy moving on in ‘agent carter’, we’ve seen her life. she had friendships and relationships. she had kids. she lived her life, she started s.h.i.e.l.d.
steve was lost in the beggining of winter soldier but eventually he also found his place in modern world. made friendships and relationships, fought battles like... he lived his life here. he was on peggy’s funeral. he closed that chapter a long time ago during ‘endgame’
it makes no sense whatesover they were brought back together. it completely invalidates everything they have been through separately, for some kind of fantasy. the steve that ended up with peggy was not the same steve that she saw the last time. on the other hand peggy didn’t get the chance to become the person the would become without him and i’m just-
