1. it’s part of the mandalore take over arc by maul, which is probably one of the best tcw arcs, also probably the most underrated one

2. satine dies - i’m not her fan, everyone and their mom knows that, i think she is so boring but her death has immense impact on obi-wan and from the character development point of view, that was something else. in the book stories of light and dark, it is described how close was obi-wan to turning to dark side. and when i say close, i mean, this close.

3. maul getting everything he could possibly want, just to immediately lose it. he takes his revenge on obi-wan, but it goes hand in hand with his character, he always goes from absolute top to total bottom. this episode is perfect example.

4. obi-wan in mandalorian armor. enough said.

5. bo-katan being flawless in the lawless. no, but really, this is the actual beginning of her character, before this and the previous episode of this arc, she was just a pre vizlas sidekick, now she has to face her family and what she did.

6. bo-katan and obi-wan team up. dreams do come true, lemme tell you. go, space gingers, go.

8. sidious using jar’kai to wipe the floor with maul and savage - you will never see this again. sidious is always just shadowy mastermind, the behind the scenes master manipulator. we never see him fight (aside of revenge of the sith yoda and windu duels) and if he does, he just uses the force lighting. him mastering jar’kai, annihilating the other two most powerful dark side users in the galaxy? unparalleled.

like, i could go on, but you get my point. this episode is well written, well made and most of the time it only falls behind, for people, because it doesn’t have anakin, ahsoka or the clones.
