he has hands, no— claws. claws that could grab onto the meat of your body, nails that will pierce through the skin and draw blood if he wanted. the man was a monster, and of course, you were skeptical about him. you had a track record with ending up in the wrong hands of men who wouldn't look twice if it meant harming you. it sucked— but that was the honest truth. you expected the same with sukuna, at one point, surely, he would do something— anything... wouldn't he?

you lay in bed, sick this entire weak. you have a dry cough; the still air of your bedroom gets into your lungs and sends you into a coughing frenzy if you aren't careful. there are lingering symptoms of a fever and body aches that are definitely present if you move too fast or too hard.

you've been miserable like this for days.

next to you, your lover sits, fingers fumbling with a page of a paper back book. needless to say, you should've listened to him.

"human bodies are too fragile." sukuna hums, "you need to be more careful with yourself or you'll do something you'll regret."

as harsh as it sounds from him, you know he's right. you turn in the sheets, trying to find the remaining spots in the mattress that are cold and haven't been plagued by the presence of your burning skin. sukuna watches you from the corner of his eye, doing a double take when he realizes your back has been soaked in sweat from overexertion and feverish undertones.

the man sighs.

"come here."

you groan, just having turned around.

you watch as his large hands come forth, and for a minute, you wonder if this is the moment. the moment you'll feel anything but love from his hands— harsh skin shattering the intimacy between the two of you once and for all.

"wait—" you stammer, but sukuna moves forward.

instead of crying out in pain or expecting a harsh sting from a physical blow, sukuna pinches the sides of your soaked shirt. the man slips it over your head in one move. your burning skin is met with instant relief, cold air enveloping you in ease. he doesn't care that your top half is bare; sukuna is more determined to grant you any sort of relief in these trying times.

"you were sweating through your shirt." he says dully.

when you don't respond, sukuna frowns.

"what...? it just looked uncomfortable."

the man tosses the shirt to the edge of the bed and settles back against the pillows, entirely unaware of the fact you thought he was going to put his hands on you for the wrong reasons. he was only trying to help you...

when you lay back into cool sheets, your eyes remain on his face.

"somethin' on my face?" sukuna lifts an accusing brow, running a hand across his jaw harshly in an attempt to rid of something that isn't there in the first place.

"no, nothing."

the shuffling of blankets; your fingertips brush his.

you give his hand a light squeeze.
