Seattle based outdoors company Filson, who's bags are regularly fawned over by me, have unveiled a watch line that is to be built in Detroit by Shinola. Here's what Filson has to say about the partnership and choosing to use Shinola's argonite movement.
"Our watches are powered by Shinola’s Argonite movement. Assembled in the U.S. of Swiss parts, this quartz movement was chosen for its reliability and precision. We’ve encased the movement in stainless steel and secured the case back with six screws. With a screw-down crown, these rugged watches are water resistant to 200 meters/20ATM. An anti-reflective coating on the tough-as-nails sapphire crystal, along with hands and numbers printed with Swiss Super-LumiNova ink, maximizes readability day or night. With straps made of quality, durable materials like Filson Tin Cloth and Bridle Leather, standards proven over the past century, these watches are built for the outdoors with uncompromising quality to withstand the demands of the field."
