Supernatural characters at Hogwarts
Okay, before I even start I wanna say that people may not agree with my choices and that’s fine. People can think I’m wrong and that’s fine too. In fact if you have a different idea let’s talk about it. Maybe you’ve noticed something I may have over looked or forgotten. Also I do not have any house hate. I don’t think any house is better than the other and my choices are based solely on the characters personalities. I don’t think Slytherin’s are evil, I don’t think Gryffindor’s are God’s gift, I don’t think Hufflepuff’s are stupid and I don’t think Ravenclaw’s are stuck up book worms. I also wasn’t trying to have an even amount in each house. They are where I feel they should be. So with that all said, let’s get to the sorting!
Dean: This may seem like an obvious choice and many people will groan and boo at how unoriginal, but I see Dean as a Gryffindor and I’ll explain why. It’s not because he’s the hero. Well, not just because he’s the hero. Dean genuinely cares about people and is very chivalrous, wanting to do the right thing and help people in trouble above anything else. As much as Dean wants to help people, he is also a show off, which is a very Gryffindor trait. He is very proud of himself when he makes a kill and looks to both Sam and Cas for approval. He’s always needed his father’s approval and that is a big part of his show boating. He needs to be acknowledged for the good he’s doing. But on the other hand he doesn’t do it for praise. He likes, and wants the praise but he saves people because it is the right thing to do. He knows he can do things that normal people cannot and for that reason alone he knows he has to save people. He is kind hearted if a bit stubborn and bull headed, always thinking his way is the right way and never wanting to listen to other people once his mind has been made up. Dean also jumps into things, sometimes without thinking, always going with his gut and heart before his brain. This can get him into a lot of trouble but you know he was always trying to do what was right. And for those reasons and more I sort Dean into Gryffindor.
Sam: Unpopular opinion time. I think Sam is a Slytherin. *a chorus of boos and flying objects come forth* I know, I know, lemme explain. I went back and forth with him between Ravenclaw and Slytherin and finally decided on Slytherin because of what Dumbledore once said about how it is our choices and not our abilities that define us. Sam is brilliant and loves to read for pleasure. He is also really brave and doesn’t run from danger. Sam is also very hard working, doing most of the research when Dean doesn’t feel like it. So why did I put him in Slytherin? Because above all those things Sam is ambitious. He wanted to be a Lawyer. He quit the family business to pursue what he wanted to do, what he loved. Being a lawyer was what was most important to him and so he went after it. Then when tragedy happened and he lost his fiancée he vowed to destroy the demon that had killed her. He helped people along the way and does genuinely care about people and whether they live or die. He is a hero, but what motivated him was revenge for Jess. And then after Dean went to Purgatory he stopped being a hunter and lived his own life for a year. I don’t blame him, he deserves to have a normal life, who says he has to save the world? Who decided it was his responsibility? But my point is he left the life and did what he wanted. Then when Dean came back he told him that after they found Kevin he wanted to quit again and live his own life. Sam is very goal oriented. He always has something he’s striving for, something he wants and something that motivates him. That’s why I think Sam is a Slytherin. He is ambitious and not afraid to give everything he has to get what he wants.
Castiel – Alright I really went back and forth with Cas. Like a lot. He was the hardest to sort but I finally figured it out. I’m confident to place Cas as a Gryffindor. Cas is brave, loyal, chivalrous and everything Gryffindor stands for. He is also someone who does things without thinking them through 100% which is what sealed my decision of Gryffindor. He abandons his father to follow Dean because he feels that it is the right thing to do. He opens up the gates to purgatory because he thinks it is the best course of action at the time. He takes Sam’s torture into himself to atone for what he did and to save his friend. He stays in purgatory on purpose because he doesn’t feel like he deserves to be saved. Everything he does is with his heart. He constantly leaps and doesn’t look first or think of the repercussions. Cas is not afraid of danger and constantly puts himself in it to save both Dean and Sam. He shoves the boys out of the way to attack a demon or threat. He transports them to safety. He tells them confidential heaven knowledge, betraying his brothers for the greater good. He saved Dean from Hell. His heroics go on and on. I originally wanted to put him in Hufflepuff because he is so loyal. But I realized that although a strong attribute of his is his loyalty it is not what defines him the most. His heart does. If someone were to disagree I can understand why a good case could be made for him to be Hufflepuff. But after much consideration and thought I realized that Cas’ heart is what makes him the person he is. It guides all his decisions and actions. He throws himself into danger recklessly to save Dean. He never cares for his own safety if it means he can save someone else. That is why I truly believe with all my heart that Cas is a Gryffindor, because he always thinks with his.
