She/Her 30. This is my self-indulgent space for collecting inspiration, expressing random ideas, and fuelling my current BG3 obsession. I like nature, mythology, poetry, movies, fantasy, and video games. My Roman Empire is the Bronze Age collapse. I pretend that I know what I'm doing as an adult (Alas, I do not).

Nine People I'd Like to Know Better

Thank you for the tag @elspethdekarios

Last Song I Listened to: What was I made for by Billie Eilish. I usually listen to the playlists Spotify picks out for me, unless I am in the mood for something specific.

Currently Watching: I prefer watching movies to TV shows. But I recently finished watching Game of Thrones for the first time.

Sweet/Savoury/Spicy?: I like all three. But, if I had to choose, then savoury.

Relationship Status: In a cohabiting relationship - unmarried.

Current Obsession: Gale Dekarios Baldur's Gate Three, Geo Guesser, and folklore.

I know that I am supposed to tag nine people, but I have no idea who has been tagged in this already and don't want to double tag anyone. So, if you follow me, see this, and want to take part then please do so. I would honestly like to get to know everyone, if they're willing.

Welcome 🍃

A little about me: my friends call me Yam, and I live in rainy Britain. I am 30 summers old, my pronouns are she/her, and if I could have a fantasy occupation, I would be a druid. My ideal date is April 25th because it's not too hot, not too cold, all you need is a light jacket.

What my blog is about
  • Reblogs of BG3 art. They're tagged #art reblog.
  • All things Gale Dekarios. I made a tag called #gale defense to record all Gale analysis posts.
  • Aesthetic posts.
  • A little Skyrim. I am currently playing Skyrim with an AU Gale as the Dragonborn. The tag is #OC Gale of Watershallow.
  • This is mainly a BG3 dedicated fan account. I don't write or draw, yet, but I occasionally post my own game screenshots. Any original posts are tagged #dotw original.
  • I sometimes dip my toe into BG3 fandom discourse. The links are below.
  • I sometimes post my female mercenary Tav OC Octavia. Her hashtag is #OC Octavia.

I love all the companions, but Gale Dekarios has bewitched me body and soul, so this blog is centred around him. I do share posts of the other origin characters.

My blog is a safe space for everyone 🏳️‍🌈

(I am Heteroflexible)

Just to be sure, if you're under 18, please proceed with care as I may reblog some spicy BG3 art. Any NSFW posts will be tagged appropriately.

Member of the Mystra hate club (BG3).

A clip of the rizzard from my Gale Origin run.

*Please ignore the stop recording sign, I'm learning how to record on this thing*

So far I have recorded him kissing Lae'zel, and I will also have him kissing Wyll and Astarion soon. The plan is to make (better quality) gif's of Gale kissing all the companions and Tav. I will then compile them in a gifset with the pan flag in the background.

It may take some time for me to do but that's my project.

I'm also getting tired of the negative Bloodweave discourse on Discord again.

They have a lot more going on than just being "sassy at each other". They work just as well as they do with other characters.

Sorry, I am just salty that certain people keep moralising against Bloodweave. Not everyone has to like the ship. But it is just as valid as the others, and all origins can be romanced with each other.

I wish we could stop with the X ship, which is better than Y ship because XXX discourse. Or people only ship them together because XXX commentary.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that I love this part of the BG3 community. I am thankful for those who are collecting Bloodweave archives!

Long may we all continue obsessing over these two nerds (affectionate) 💖

I just saw someone in the tags of a post imply that Gale isn't romantic, sweet, or ethical.

Hello, are we playing the same game?

I think they meant well because the original post was a Gale positive post. About how Gale is strong, competent, and poweful, not weak or pathetic. But we are not taking positive character traits from another character and projecting them on to Gale.

Gale IS insanely romantic. Gale can be salty, but he is also sweet. Gale might be willing to turn the other cheek on occasion, but he is moral and ethical.

They also implied in their tags that Gale would have no moral qualms with morally and ethically dubious things, such as bombs and dubcon, which is also untrue. Gale is not evil. His alignment has now been confirmed as Neutral Good via the Idle Champions.

Yes, you can manipulate him to stay with you in an evil run, but the keyword is manipulate.

I don't have the time to explore this further at the moment, and I'm not going to call the user out. But bad character takes annoy me.

it’s funny how fandom in general (and some of the writers at larian included) treat Gale like he’s some pathetic wimp when the exact opposite is true.

the man had to be nerfed by a freaking goddess of magic because he was trying to become even more powerful than he already was.

there’s nothing pathetic or wimpy or weak about him, except his knees.

The only reason Gale doesn’t become a god in endings where he ends up with the protag (assuming he’s also read the Annals but with or without returning the crown) is… being a god isn’t what he wants from life. That’s it. Post-game, the man nerfs HIMSELF to be with you because a life with his books, cat, and the person he loves is more appealing than godhood.

Like, c’mon.

love these tags

my post was originally alluding to the fact how Larian themselves were like 'Gale is annoying and his ""right"" ending is when he sacrifices himself" and about how some fans treat him in fics like a dumb punching bag. mostly Astarion fans which is insane to me personally and i'm an Astarion stan but I also love Gale.

Gale's and Astarion's story parallel each other so well and should be treated with equal respect.

Gale isn't annoying, he isn't a wimp, he isn't anybody's punching bag.

Please say it louder for the people in the back.

Gale is also witty, catty, and flirtatious. He can give as good as he gets in verbal spars.

He always stands his ground and is not afraid to take action against an enemy.

I've said it before in another post, but his kindness and insecurity don't make him weak or pathetic.

I am just going to say it.

A woman CAN, abuse, groom, and have power over a man. Especially when the woman is a literal Goddess and the man is a mortal worshipper of her. And adults CAN fall victim to grooming.

See grooming in sports:

https://www.anncrafttrust.org/adult-grooming-in-sport-if-it-feels-wrong-it-is-wrong/

Also, Elminster had a massive part to play in it as he reached out to Gale when he was 8 years old.

I get that we can not comprehend the complexities in the power dynamics between a God or Goddess and a mortal. But it doesn't take much to understand that the power imbalance is insane. Or that the gods, even the good ones, only serve themselves.

Also, Gale was a child prodigy. She absolutely wanted to be able to control him and control the power he had because he would be useful to her.

This has already been said multiple times before by people who are at explaining things than me.

Backstory time- Octavia Shayra Bintalzari

Octavia (or Tav) was born a Bintalzari, a name echoing with wealth and influence in the glittering city of Calimsport. But beneath the gleam of privilege, her parents were cold and rigid, obsessed with power above all else. As the eldest daughter, Octavia carried the sting of their disappointment – they longed for a son, an heir. When one finally came, it was at the terrible cost of her mother's life. Life got worse for her and her sisters after her mother's death. They were pretty much raised by the house staff as their father neglected them.

Octavia was raised like a porcelain doll, moulded for a life of alliances and political manoeuvring. She yearned to train in combat, to protect her city, but her father ignored her pleas. Instead, she was trapped in a miserable, arranged marriage to a man steeped in corruption because her father saw no further use for her.

Her husbands death by poison was a scandal – and though Octavia was innocent, her own family condemned her and she was charged as guilty without trial. Cast out and hunted, she fled to the city's shadowy underside. Even there, betrayal stung; an old friend sold her into a harem's gilded cage.

Five years passed before a band of holy knights serving Helm stormed the harem, liberating her. Octavia joined their ranks, proving her worth as a fighter. But even among the devout, she found hypocrisy. She fell for a Tiefling paladin, a love cut short when she died needlessly on a mission. Tired of the selective justice, internal power struggles, and financial extortion she left.

Octavia shed her vows, becoming a blade for hire for anyone that needs protection in Faerun. Her reputation grew alongside a taste for hard-earned pleasures. Yet she refuses to be called a hero for slaying beasts and helping the common folk. Around 12 months before the events of BG3, she became a target for assassins (poison), triggering the loss of a child she hadn't even known about.

She survived the attempt at her life but in a weakened state, as it took a while for her body to recover from the trauma. After a severe bout of depression she decided to head back to Calimshan to deal with the unfinished business from her past before she was abducted.

Ocativa struggles with trust, finding it difficult to open up to others, even though she desires to do so. While she is driven to aid people, she holds skepticism towards the idea of heroes. Suddenly finding herself entwined with the lives of six strangers, she realizes that survival hinges upon placing trust in them. Reluctantly, she must also embrace the mantle of a hero, and come to terms with falling in love with another person who is doomed by the narrative.

ERM...GUYS... we're in the middle of a battle...

Please save it for the campsite.

The combat finished my turn, and when it moved to Gale's turn, I found them like this 😶

I guess Gale is no longer my husband. He has been claimed by Astarion, the Bloodweave connection is too strong.

I love each companion for different reasons.

Gale, as well as him being my type in every single way, I also see aspects of myself in him. I know what it is like to lose yourself in a relationship to the point that your life and identity revolve around them. To have an imbalanced relationship where only one person is making all the compromises and all the first moves. To feel like an accessory for them instead of an equal partner. I also have a propensity towards verbosity, am socially awkward, and our feelings about love are very similar. He truly is a man after my own heart. I have romanced him in two playthroughs, but I look forward to seeing how the storyline goes when you don't romance him.

Wyll is the archetypical romantic hero. I admire how he sticks to his morals, and how nice he is to everyone. I just wish that he had more content. I haven't romanced him yet, but he is the type of man I would fall for in real life.

Shadowheart is exactly the kind of character I would create to play DnD or Pathfinder. I have not romanced her yet. But I like her as a character, and she does have me questioning if my sexuality extends to women as well as men. I have not romanced her yet but I intend to if I have time to do enough playthroughs. [I may also have a crush on her VA]

Astarion took me by surprise. I didn't like him at first because he seemed fake and I was certain he was going to end up being one of the villains. His storyline was the first I have ever cried in a video game. I want to save him and tell him that he deserves to be free and happy. I haven't romanced him yet but intend to in my Gale origin playthrough.

Karlach is a golden retriever, I love her and I want her to be my best friend. I am probably not going to romance her, but I see the appeal.

Lae'zel, I admire for her honesty and loyalty. I didn't get along with her at first but I can see that there is more to her personality that meets the eye. I intend to romance her in my Durge playthrough to experience the other side of her personality.

I am at work, but The Season on AO3 lives rent-free in my head 😭

I just can't stop thinking about Gale being hopelessly in love with Astarion and Astarion being oblivious to Gale's feelings as well as his own feelings towards Gale because he has never been in love before. And the ever-present fear of something bad happening as a result of Mystra or Cazador.

The Season is going to stay with me for a while.
