Gale, as well as him being my type in every single way, I also see aspects of myself in him. I know what it is like to lose yourself in a relationship to the point that your life and identity revolve around them. To have an imbalanced relationship where only one person is making all the compromises and all the first moves. To feel like an accessory for them instead of an equal partner. I also have a propensity towards verbosity, am socially awkward, and our feelings about love are very similar. He truly is a man after my own heart. I have romanced him in two playthroughs, but I look forward to seeing how the storyline goes when you don't romance him.
Wyll is the archetypical romantic hero. I admire how he sticks to his morals, and how nice he is to everyone. I just wish that he had more content. I haven't romanced him yet, but he is the type of man I would fall for in real life.
Shadowheart is exactly the kind of character I would create to play DnD or Pathfinder. I have not romanced her yet. But I like her as a character, and she does have me questioning if my sexuality extends to women as well as men. I have not romanced her yet but I intend to if I have time to do enough playthroughs. [I may also have a crush on her VA]
Astarion took me by surprise. I didn't like him at first because he seemed fake and I was certain he was going to end up being one of the villains. His storyline was the first I have ever cried in a video game. I want to save him and tell him that he deserves to be free and happy. I haven't romanced him yet but intend to in my Gale origin playthrough.
Karlach is a golden retriever, I love her and I want her to be my best friend. I am probably not going to romance her, but I see the appeal.
Lae'zel, I admire for her honesty and loyalty. I didn't get along with her at first but I can see that there is more to her personality that meets the eye. I intend to romance her in my Durge playthrough to experience the other side of her personality.
