Joe rolls over, luxuriating in a long stretch.
Beside the bed, Nicky snorts and Joe can feel the warmth of his presence leaning down for a kiss. Joe keeps his eyes closed as he reaches his head up to meet Nicky. And for a few moments he luxuriates in a whole new kind of morning activity, savoring the slow-syrup pace of the thing.
He does not enjoy that Nicky pulls away and ends the kiss sooner than Joe’s morning erection would prefer.
“Joe,” Nicky deadpans back, a smirk surely pulling at the corner of his mouth, “Nile and I have discovered some similar opinions in music. I was just grabbing an album.”
“An album, hm?” Joe asks, finally opening his eyes to look up at where Nicky still gazes down at him. He’s holding a vinyl in his hand, with a look in his eyes like he already laughing at Joe’s opinions on the choice.
“Yes, I think it will sound very similar to her Frank Ocean.”
Joe is far too tired to try and guess who Nicky would be so confident about, but he nods sleepily and reaches up with one hand – blindly grabbing for something he can’t articulate but that he trusts Nicky to understand.
With a laugh, Nicky catches his hand and holds it for a moment, kissing along the flesh and murmuring endearments.
Joe sighs, feeling himself settling into the ease of the moment, and slowly reaching farther up to cup Nicky’s face.
“You are the only music I need.”
“I think in this moment you need coffee far more,” Nicky says, giving the palm of Joe’s hand one last peck.
Joe groans, “Go teach Nile about what you think is good taste so I can fix it later,”
Nicky shakes his head and leans down to kiss Joe properly again, murmuring something filthy that stirs Joe’s blood and leaves him awake in their bed long after Nicky has left.
In the aftermath of such terrible treatment, Joe gives himself a few moments to lounge in the sheets – waiting to see if he wants to follow his arousal or get up and face the day.
In the end the sound of music begins wafting quietly in from the living room, and Joe decides to get a head start on teaching Nile what Nicky surely got incorrect about music of any kind – but especially whatever Nicky thinks is connected to modern hip-hop.
He’ll get Nicky back for the Too Early wake up call when Nile and Andy go out later. Joe always likes trying to make Nicky sing.
