Glob Love

@drama-glob / drama-glob.tumblr.com

In case it's not obvious, I absolutely love Globby (as well as Felony Carl and Big Hero 6), so you can expect a fair amount of stuff will focus on him ;). I also really enjoy Amphibia, The Owl House, Ben 10 (OS, UAF and Omniverse), Helluva Boss, and Hazbin Hotel, so they are bound to show up too. I have miscellaneous interests, but mainly love to make things, whether they be drawn, crafted, knitted or any other form.

A man named Dashrath Manjhi carved a 360 ft long path through a mountain for 22 years using only a hammer and chisel to reduce the distance between his village and the nearest doctor from 55km to 15km, to ensure no one would die like his wife did because they could not get medical care.

After his wife tragically died in 1959 due to an injury sustained from falling off a mountain, and because the mountain blocked easy access to a nearby hospital, Dashrath Manjhi made a life-changing decision. He dedicated himself to carving a 110-meter-long (360 ft) path through a ridge of hills using only a hammer and chisel. After 22 years of hard work, he managed to reduce the travel distance from 55 kilometers (34 miles) to just 15 kilometers (9.3 miles). Though he was mocked for his efforts, Manjhi’s work has made life more accessible for the people of his village.

"In a historic move Friday [November 8, 2024], Sacramento State announced its new Native American College, a first of its kind in the California State university system.

The college, a co-curricular institution housed at Sacramento State, will support Native-based education with a focus on leadership and career building. It will offer a diverse range of programs that integrate "tribal values, traditions and community engagement," according to a press release.

This marks Sacramento State's second ethnic-based institution. The university launched the the nation's first Black Honors college earlier this year.

The announcement was made at the California State Capitol by President Luke Wood and Dr. Annette Reed, an enrolled member and citizen of the Tolowa Dee-ni' Nation, who will be the first dean of the Native American College.

Reed said students will have access to faculty mentors, advisors, outreach coordinators and more who have the expertise to work closely with Native American students and can support them holistically.

She hopes this historic initiative will address low enrollment of Native students pursuing higher education across the state and in the country. Native American students face significant barriers to enrolling in higher education, such as financial constraints, feelings of isolation, historical trauma and lack of culturally relevant curriculum.

"And so I'm hoping this impacts the students where they go through as a cohort. They can create networks, they can be able to have more of a support system going through and beginning together and hopefully graduating at the end together," Reed said.

Reed recalled taking her first class on Native American studies in 1980. She would later on serve as the director of Native American studies at Sacramento State and chair of the Department of Ethnic Studies. For her, advocating for Native American education was a natural top priority.

"People always ask me, 'What is Native American studies?' It is history. It is looking at culture. It's looking at teaching sovereignty, federal Indian law. It's teaching social work, art. It's teaching about Native cultural expression, it can be literature," Reed said.

The Native American College will introduce two new courses, according to Reed, which will be focused on Native American leadership.

"It means that maybe some of the ones that start in Fall 2025 will end up here at the Capitol. Maybe they'll end up being the future senators or assembly people or the future of people in business. They might be leading our nation as tribal chairs, they might be going into the medical field," Reed said. "But whatever field they go into, leadership is really key."

Students who want to be in the Native American College can apply after being accepted into the university's general application process. All students will be required to minor in Native American Studies, with an emphasis on Native American leadership."

will uzi be depressed all her life after absolute end? or not?

Avatar

I don't think she'll be necessarily depressed or at least feel that way all her life, but I think she'll always have that lingering weight of responsibility and feeling off thanks to the Absolute Solver integrated into her; I can see though how the Solver can represent depression and Uzi still living her life despite it never fully going away. :/

There is nothing in the world worse than the feeling of helplessness, that you cannot do anything, and you are standing in hell, and you are unable to do anything but silently observe your pain.

Before the war, he was shiny with his knowledge. After the war, he is exhausted with worries

Hello,

My name is Hind. A physical therapist from Gaza.

I’m a mother doing everything I can to rebuild a life for my children after we were forced to leave our home and peaceful life. We are now safe in Egypt, but we’ve been separated from my husband, and starting over hasn’t been easy. My deepest wish is simple: to reunite our family and give my children the stability and future they deserve.

Reaching out for support isn’t easy, but your generosity can make a difference in our journey toward stability and reunion as a family. Any help you can give brings us closer to standing strong again.

A photo from memories, captured in May 2023.

Everyone has a superhero. For any girl in the world, her superhero is her father.

He is our hero. He is a doctor. Before this ongoing genocide, he worked at Al-Shifa Hospital. He is a wonderful plastic surgeon, loves his work and is committed to it, to help people and relieve their pain.

When We were forced to be displaced to Al-Shifa Hospital at the beginning of the war, he was still committed to his work. He worked nonstop for 40 days, besides caring for his family, especially in these difficult times!

But unfortunately the occupation stormed and burned the hospital after We were forced to evacuate , raising white flags. We could not carry anything, just our souls. We fled to the south on foot. He carried his two children in his arms, and walked long distances for many kilometers during the afternoon among tanks and heavily armed soldiers, and even among decomposing corpses!

Finally, we reached the UNRWA school at Khan Yunis. He started working in Nasser Hospital, which the occupation also stormed and destroyed! Even when we were displaced, he was working.

All that happened did not stop him from performing his lofty job as a doctor. He has now returned to work in MOH hospitals to carry out operations of debridement and grafting of needy injured people, but he is alone, we are far from him.

He decided to protect us and made a decision to refuge in Egypt to be survived. While he stayed in Rafah before the beginning of the military operation there. Then he was forced to be displaced to Deir Al-Balah.

Every morning he goes to work at Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis and returns to his tent in Deir Al- Balah in the evening all week.

Is this what we and he deserve?

We stay away from our hero and torn our family. While at the same time, he is putting himself in danger while saving innocent lives!

For your information, his profession is considered more dangerous than ever before, due to the occupation’s systematic policy of targeting hospitals and medical staff!

All the day, we are worried about him. May Allah save him. Moreover, there is no safe place.

We hope to reunite again, we want each other, we want our home and our dreams!

We need your help and support to meet our father again, reunite our family and rebuild our lives. Little matters! Your little means a lot to us.

Please, donate or reblog this with others.

Our story is here:

This was not our only tragic story in this genocide, every day was a struggle for survival!

Thanks!

Reblog again, please 🙏

Dr. Hussam Abo Safia bids a heart-wrenching farewell to his son, during the ongoing genocide—a deeply personal tragedy that reflects the relentless loss felt by so many parents.
His grief serves as a reminder of the constant danger faced by every family in this genocide, where doctors like him continue working despite unimaginable pain, risking their lives daily.
Each doctor understands that they, too, may one day lose a loved one or even their own life. Every doctor, like Dr. Hussam Abo Safia, works with unwavering commitment, fully aware of the risks they face each day.
In war zones and conflict areas, these doctors not only heal the wounded but often place their own lives on the line to do so. Their dedication goes beyond the boundaries of duty; it’s a profound sacrifice that makes them both caregivers and unsung heroes amid chaos.
