This has nothing to do with the “left” or “vengeance”. It has everything to do with the Rule of Law according to the Founders.

Trump, his officials, Republicans and his cronies committed real crimes — serious crimes, therefore, they should be prosecuted like any other criminal.  Trump and Republicans want “Law and Order” —  give it to them. Otherwise, a slap on the wrist will only embolden Republicans to do it again with Don Jr. and Ivanka.

Among the glories of democratic government, the historian Jill Lepore wrote recently, are that after an election “the loser concedes without violence, and the winner accepts without vengeance.”
Lepore was right in her observation but wrong in assessing its current implications for the U.S. She was arguing against a reckoning of Trump administration wrongdoing that takes the form of either a South Africa-style “truth and reconciliation commission” or criminal prosecutions.
Either option would inevitably become an instrument of partisanship, Lepore argues. She approvingly quotes Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden as warning that criminal prosecutions of Trump officials would be “probably not very … good for democracy.”

“In the trade-off between prosecution and stability, Biden chooses stability,” Lepore writes. “Much of the left does not.” Her conclusion: Let history judge.

AG Bill Barr trying to subvert justice again. Judge upholds the rule of law against Impeached COVID45 #LawAndOrder  #MeToo  #TrumpToo

The DOJ had sought to intervene in the case and substitute itself as defendant in the lawsuit filed by E. Jean Carroll, a move that likely would have curbed the proceedings, since the federal government can't be sued for defamation.
Writing in her 2019 book, Carroll claimed Trump raped her in a dressing room at a luxury Manhattan department store in the 1990s.
Shortly after Carroll's allegations became public, Trump denied them, telling reporters, "She's not my type," and accusing Carroll of lying to boost her book sales.
In a 61-page opinion, US District Judge Lewis Kaplan ruled that Trump "is not an 'employee of the Government,' as Congress defined that term," and therefore the lawsuit isn't, as the Justice Department argued, against the United States.

Yesterday, @CREWcrew sued the Justice Department over their failure to respond to our FOIA requests about the costs of US Attorney John Durham’s duplicative investigation into the start of the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
—  Noah Bookbinder@NoahBookbinder

Taxpayers paid and continue to pay for Trump minions William Barr and John Durham to travel around America and the world to solicit American Allies to investigate debunked Trump-Republican-Russia conspiracy theories.

  1. Debunked by Barr’s own DOJ  😂
  2. Debunked by even John Durham  😂
  3. Debunked by all of the U.S. Intel agencies  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  4. Debunked by the Republican controlled SENATE Intel Committee 😂
  5. Debunked by the U.S. House Intel Committee 😂
The conclusions drawn from the Mueller investigation showed that the investigation was not politically motivated, as Barr claimed. Additionally, while there was insufficient evidence to charge a broader conspiracy, the report produced convictions of numerous Trump campaign officials and associates. Barr’s involvement in the Mueller investigation created a potential appearance of impropriety because it appeared that Barr had pre-judged the outcome of the investigation. Still, Barr and Durham continue to pursue an inquiry into the origins of the investigation.
Previously, CREW requested documents that would shed light on Barr’s involvement with Durham’s investigation and sued DOJ when it failed to turn over any responsive documents.
The latest lawsuit stems from three FOIA requests CREW filed concerning the costs of trips related to Durham’s investigation, including an international trip to Italy taken by Barr, and copies of all budgets, expenses, salaries, and costs of the investigation. CREW is suing following DOJ’s failure to turn over these documents.

Why is #CoverUpBarr refusing to release the documents and expenses to Taxpayers?

Republicans, why does Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans continue to prevent witnesses and evidence when Bolton’s book and Lev Parnas’ recordings are part of the public record — for the entire world to see and hear?

President Trump directly tied the withholding of almost $400 million in American security aid to investigations that he sought from Ukrainian officials, according to an unpublished manuscript of a book that John R. Bolton, Mr. Trump’s former national security adviser, wrote about his time in the White House.

Why Bolton’s book matters

The firsthand account of the link between the aid and investigations, which is based on meetings and conversations Mr. Bolton had with Mr. Trump, undercuts a key component of the president’s impeachment defense: that the decision to freeze the aid was independent from his requests that Ukraine announce politically motivated investigations into former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and his son Hunter.

Read the article for the details of the five takeaways

  1. Mr. Trump tied his willingness to release aid to Ukraine on investigations he sought.
  2. Mr. Trump was at odds with his senior national security officials.
  3. Mr. Bolton says he talked to Mr. Barr and Mr. Pompeo about Mr. Giuliani.
  4. Mr. Bolton is willing to testify. The White House doesn’t want him to.
  5. The manuscript introduced a significant twist to the impeachment trial.

“Mr. Bolton wrote that Mr. Pompeo privately acknowledged to him last spring that Mr. Giuliani’s claims about Marie L. Yovanovitch, then the American ambassador to Ukraine, had no basis, including allegations that she was bad-mouthing Mr. Trump.” 🔥

Some may say Bill Barr is turning the DOJ into Orwell’s Ministry of Truth — at best — at worst — the Ministry of Love.

Others may say Barr is quickly becoming Franz Gürtner.

Franz Gürtner was a German Minister of Justice in Adolf Hitler's cabinet, responsible for coordinating jurisprudence in the Third Reich
Although Gürtner was not a Nazi, he shared the increasingly authoritarian bent of most of his DNVP colleagues. He fully supported the Reichstag Fire Decree, which effectively wiped out civil liberties in Germany.

“He was most insistent that only the courts could inflict punishments on opponents of the Nazi regime.”

He also merged the German judges' association with the new National Socialist Lawyers Association  and provided a veil of constitutional legality for the Nazi State
As a part of bid to retain a role for the judiciary in the repression of enemies of the state and to protect the rechtsstaat, Gürtner opened the first session of the People's Court on 14 July 1934. The People's Court was a special court for trying those accused of being enemies of the state, whose procedures were meant to ensure the conviction of the accused.
During World War II, the feeble protestation of the Ministry of Justice was weakened still further, as alleged criminals were increasingly handled by the Gestapo and SS, without recourse to any court of law.

“He provided official sanction and legal grounds for a series of repressive actions ... decrees that opened the way for implementing the Final Solution”

Former Rep. Trey Gowdy was fired as a Fox News contributor, a spokesperson for the network told CNBC on Wednesday, as he joins President Donald Trump’s outside counsel amid an impeachment inquiry into the president…
A source familiar with the situation noted that Gowdy representing the president would pose a conflict of interest with his role as a Fox contributor. Gowdy’s agent waited to confirm the job change, the source told CNBC, which is why Fox revealed that he is no longer a contributor prior to an official announcement about his new role as Trump’s counsel.
Trump on Thursday said former Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) can’t to join his outside legal team for a “couple months” because of lobbying rules one day after it was announced that Gowdy would serve as his counsel.
“Trey Gowdy is a terrific guy,” Trump told reporters outside the White House as he departed for a campaign rally.
“I think there’s a problem with — he can’t start for another couple months because of lobbying rules and regulations,” he added. “So you’ll have to ask about that. I just heard that Trey Gowdy can’t start til some time after January because of the lobbying rules and regulations. So I don’t know. We’ll have to see.”

These idiots can’t do anything right!

Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman were arrested last night as they tried to flee the country in advance of Congressional subpoenas for their testimony. These are the men who, their recently hired attorney, former Trump personal attorney John Dowd, described how intertwined their actions were with the President’s in an effort to excuse them from testifying in the House impeachment inquiry.
Messrs. Parnas and Fruman assisted Mr. Giuliani in connection with his representation of President Trump. Mr. Parnas and Mr. Fruman have also been represented by Mr. Giuliani in connection with their personal and business affairs. They also assisted Joseph DiGenova and Victoria Toensing in their law practice. Thus, certain information you seek in your September 30, 2019, letter is protected by the attorney-client, attorney work product and other privileges.
The indictment charging Parnas and Fruman with multiple counts of conspiracy lays out how they pursued policies pushed by a Ukrainian politician (and, not coincidentally, Trump), in part by getting Congressman Pete Sessions’ help.

Putting together the Dowd letter and the indictment, it becomes clear that the John Solomon propaganda that Trump was pushing (and which Rudy sent to Mike Pompeo’s State Department as part of the effort to get rid of Yovanovitch and which Lindsey Graham just invited Rudy to come present to the Senate Judiciary Committee) was funded by an as yet unnamed Russian.

A House Foreign Affairs Committee aide told CNN that "Secretary Pompeo has failed to meet the deadline to produce documents required by the subpoena. However, the State Department has contacted the Committees on this matter and we hope the Department will cooperate in full promptly. Apart from the outstanding subpoena, we look forward to hearing from Ambassadors Sondland and Yovanovitch next week."CNN has reached out to the State Department for comment.
On Saturday, Pompeo told reporters that the US State Department had sent a letter to Congress Friday night with its "initial response" to the document request.
"We'll obviously do all the things we are required to do by law," Pompeo said, during a press conference in Athens, without elaborating on what the department's response said.

Raddatz wasn’t having it. Clearly sensing evasion, she interrupted: “You say you know nothing about this. Let me ask you this question…Do you think it’s ‘perfectly fine’ to ask a foreign leader to investigate a political opponent?
Pompeo: “I think I saw a statement from the Ukrainian foreign minister yesterday say there was no pressure applied in the course of the conversation,”
He then launched into an attack against the Biden family.

Russian Asset: U.S. Attorney General William Barr

“I have concluded that the evidence developed during the Special Counsel’s investigation is not sufficient to establish that the President committed an obstruction-of-justice offense,” Barr wrote

Mueller, in fact, had found ten potential episodes of obstruction of justice, but left it up to Congress to decide whether Trump was guilty.”, The New Yorker
