This is coming from a government official in Trump’s own administration. Maxwell made no mention of the number of kids who have been reunited.

“The total number is unknown. It is certainly more than 2,737, but how many more, precisely, is unknown.”,  Ann Maxwell, the Health and Human Services Department’s assistant inspector general

As of December, the department had identified 2,737 children who were separated from their parents under the policy and required to be reunified by a federal court order issued in June 2018.
Ann Maxwell, the Health and Human Services Department’s assistant inspector general for evaluation and inspections, said the separations appeared to have been occurring for a full year before the court issued its order.

“Thousands of children were separated from parents and guardians, referred to H.H.S. and released from H.H.S. care before the court order,” Ms. Maxwell said in a conference call with reporters.

“The total number is unknown,” she said. “It is certainly more than 2,737, but how many more, precisely, is unknown.” Moreover, that number may never be known: Department officials, she said, had told her office that there were “no efforts underway to identify that. It would take away resources from children already in care.”
In an email after the call, Ms. Maxwell’s spokesman confirmed that inspectors believed the number of separated children may be “thousands” more than the 2,737 reported to the court.
Thus, the total number of children separated from a parent or guardian by immigration authorities is “unknown,” because of the lack of a coordinated formal tracking system between the Office of Refugee Resettlement, the arm of Health and Human Services that takes in the children, and the Department of Homeland Security, which separated them from their parents.

“This report confirms what we suspected: This cruel family separation practice was way bigger than the administration let on,”

Lee Gelernt, who challenged the policy in court on behalf of the American Civil Liberties Union. “We will be back in court and ask the judge to order the government to explain these numbers,” he said.

Kirstjen Nielsen LIED to Congress about Family Separation #ZeroTolerance #ICETapo #BabyJails

“Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Sec. Kirstjen Nielsen insisted there was no “zero tolerance” policy at all, tweeting that “we do not have a policy of separating families at the border. Period.” But according to a newly obtained memo, that was a lie. Period.” #LockHerUp

The memo, first reported on by the Washington Post on April 26, but never previously published, provides evidence that Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen signed off on a policy of family separation despite her repeated claims denying that there was such a policy,” Open the Government and the Project On Government Oversight reveal. “The Post appears to have obtained a copy of the memo prior to its signature.”
Still, not one Trump official has been jailed, been fired, or been forced to resign over this catastrophic humanitarian disaster and subsequent violation of a court order. Among the top of the list should be Kirstjen Nielsen, who in true Trumpian fashion, stood on her platform and gaslighted the nation about what was happening before our very eyes. She knew about it, she apparently signed off on it, and then lied to our faces.

Stephen would never have existed.

If my ancestors had not immigrated to the United States when they did, if they waited a few more years until 1924, the door would have been shut.
My parents would have gone up the crematory chimney, I wouldn't have born, my sister wouldn't have been born and certainly Stephen would never have existed.

If in the early 20th century the USA had built a wall against poor desperate ignorant immigrants of a different religion, like the Glossers, all of us would have gone up the crematoria chimneys with the other six million kinsmen whom we can never know."

Back to Glosser’s op-ed.

Past: Seeking Asylum and Chain Migration

  • Beset by violent anti-Jewish pogroms and forced childhood conscription in the Czar’s army, the patriarch of the shack, Wolf-Leib Glosser, fled a village where his forebears had lived for centuries and took his chances in America.
  • He set foot on Ellis Island on January 7, 1903, with $8 to his name. Though fluent in Polish, Russian, and Yiddish he understood no English.
  • An elder son, Nathan, soon followed.
  • By street corner peddling and sweat-shop toil Wolf-Leib and Nathan sent enough money home to pay off debts and buy the immediate family’s passage to America in 1906.

“I have watched with dismay and increasing horror as my nephew, who is an educated man and well aware of his heritage, has become the architect of immigration policies that repudiate the very foundation of our family’s life in this country.”

The Glossers came to the U.S. just a few years before the fear and prejudice of the “America First” nativists of the day closed U.S. borders to Jewish refugees.
Had Wolf-Leib waited, his family would likely have been murdered by the Nazis along with all but seven of the 2,000 Jews who remained in Antopol. I would encourage Stephen to ask himself if the chanting, torch-bearing Nazis of Charlottesville, whose support his boss seems to court so cavalierly, do not envision a similar fate for him.

Guess who the Nazi White Supremacists will be coming for next?

Present: The Alt-Right’s Richard Spencer is Stephen Miller’s “FRIEND” #Charlottesville

“Stephen and Trump may have become numb to the resultant human tragedy and blind to the hypocrisy of their policy decisions.”

After all, Stephen’s is not the only family with a chain immigration story in the Trump administration. Trump's grandfather is reported to have been a German migrant on the run from military conscription to a new life in the USA and his mother fled the poverty of rural Scotland for the economic possibilities of New York City. (Trump’s in-laws just became citizens on the strength of his wife’s own citizenship.)

Dr. David Glosser was neuropsychologist

These facts are important not only for their grim historical irony but because vulnerable people are being hurt. They are real people, not the ghoulish caricatures portrayed by Trump. When confronted by the deaths and suffering of thousands our senses are overwhelmed, and the victims become statistics rather than people. I meet these statistics one at a time through my volunteer service as a neuropsychologist for the Philadelphia affiliate of HIAS (formerly the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society), the global non-profit agency that protects refugees and helped my family more than 100 years ago. I will share the story of one such man I have met in the hope that my nephew might recognize elements of our shared heritage.
Why aren't people out demonstrating about children being thrown in cages. An American Senator couldn't get entry. Have we become so immune that we stopped caring? We have been condemned by the UN for human rights violations.
...
This is unacceptable and inhuman and a human rights crisis in own country. This is NOT the democrats it is the republicans. Sessions thinks it is necessary to teach people a lesson. This is sick sick sick.

#VoteBlue in the midterms to hold Miller, Sessions, Nielsen, Scott Lloyd and Trump accountable, as well as, participants at DHS, HHS, ORR and DOJ.

“As an author of the Refugee Act of 1980, along with Senator Ted Kennedy, I believe the treatment of refugees by you and President Trump violates that law and our treaty obligations to refugees,” Eilzabeth Holtzman

The four former members ― Richard Danzig, Elizabeth Holtzman, David Marin and Matthew Olsen ― signed a resignation letter last week and gave it to Homeland Security Secretary Kristjen Nielsen, the Washington Post reported. The letter blasts the Trump administration for its cruel treatment of families who have been separated at the border.

“We cannot tolerate association with the immigration policies of this administration, nor the illusion that we are consulted on these matters.”

We filed a Hatch Act complaint against Trump's director of media affairs for Latino and African-American news outlets, Helen Aguirre Ferré. Less than a week later, she's leaving the White House.
Citizens for Ethics‏  @CREWcrew -  Aug 10, 2018

Congress, why is CREW is doing the People’s business?

Ferré,  the daughter of Nicaraguan parents, leaves the administration amid criticism of its "zero tolerance" immigration policy, although Ferré remained loyal to the president on this issue. At a this past June, Ferré said that she would "support the president's efforts in securing the border, and I support the president's efforts in ensuring that the laws are enacted properly."
Ferré leaves the White House without it having a Spanish-language version of its website, something that was offered by the  two previous administrations. The Spanish-language site was slated to be launched at the end of 2017, but it has been stalled.
She is also leaving the Trump administration that she violated the Hatch Act, which prohibits employees in the executive branch of the federal government from participating in political activities. Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), an organization that works to promote ethical and accountable government, accused Ferré of violating the act by posting Trump's campaign slogan "Make America Great Again" on her official Twitter page. Ferré is the latest in a series of  White House departures. Her exit follows that of Carlos Díaz-Rosillo, former deputy assistant to the president and director of policy and interagency coordination. Díaz-Rosillo, another prominent Hispanic member of the administration, left in June. In another high-profile departure, first lady Melania Trump lost her policy director after only six months on the job.

The Separation of Church and State is under assault #RepublicansCOMPLICIT  #RESIST

Scott Lloyd is in lockstep with Trump, Miller, Sessions and evangelicals.

The Office of Refugee Resettlement is now a ”detention agency” and anti-women rights.

“It appears [Scott]  Lloyd does not believe undocumented people in ORR custody have constitutional rights, including the right to access abortion care.”

During Thursday’s hearing, [Rep. Zoe] Lofgren repeatedly asked Lloyd if girls and young women in ORR custody have constitutional rights and Lloyd repeatedly sidestepped the question, saying that those coming to the United States have “the potential to become a full U.S. citizen with full rights to all the freedoms we enjoy,” but that it’s “a process … as a person moves through the process, they gain additional rights.”
A closer look at Lloyd’s background indicates that he may not only be unqualified and ill-equipped to lead ORR, but that he was another ideological pick by the Trump administration whose personal beliefs mirror those of anti-choice extremists and men’s rights activists.

Lloyd has said that women who get no-copay contraception should have to “swear they won’t get an abortion.”

He has pushed the anti-choice lie that “contraceptives are the cause of abortion” and that “if we did not have contraceptives in this country, we would not have anywhere near the abortion rate we do now.”

The ORR director has asserted that “all funds for contraceptives, in all forms, and at all levels of the government, should be eliminated,” and has written that “nothing could be further from the truth …. You can’t be pro-life and pro-contraception.

  • Before becoming ORR director, Lloyd was an attorney for the Catholic charity Knights of Columbus and served on the board of the Front Royal Pregnancy Center, an anti-choice fake clinic.
  • Lloyd is affiliated with a network of religious organizations, including Human Life International, Veritatis Splendor, and the WitnessWorks Foundation.
  • These organizations are affiliated and encourage members to “undertake no legal matters, nor any legal strategies, that conflict with Church Teachings [sic].”
  • Under George W. Bush, Lloyd as a Health and Human Services official, advocated for a rule protecting health-care providers that oppose abortion rights on religious grounds

Shutdown Trump’s Internment Camps

👏 👏 👏 Judge Dolly Gee. The Shiloh Treatment Center must be shutdown and those involved must be prosecuted. #RepublicansCOMPLICIT

Possible Reasons for Trump’s Cruelty:

A federal judge in California has ruled the government must release most kids being held in a notorious Texas facility where they were given psychiatric medications without parental consent, and that federal baby jailers must get proper consent or a court order to administer such meds in the future.
It's a big win for immigrant advocates who contended the government-contracted facilities misused psychiatric drugs as "chemical straight jackets" to force kids into compliance. We agree, that's terrible. For one thing, it's "straitjacket."
The lawsuit involved yet another follow-up to the 1997 Flores settlement, which limited how long the government can detain minors in immigration cases, and was overseen by US District Judge Dolly Gee. The defendants were the Department of Justice and the Office of Refugee Resettlement, the agency responsible for caring for migrant kids. ORR had been housing kids at Shiloh Treatment Center in Manvel, Texas, where kids were sent for a lot of reasons Gee found violated the terms of Flores, particularly the terms that required minors be housed in the "least restrictive setting" possible unless they were determined to be a danger to themselves or others, as the song goes.

kids at Shiloh were routinely medicated”

The Center for Investigative Reporting, relying on court documents that cited the testimony of kids and parents, discovered in June that kids at Shiloh were routinely medicated, and often had no idea why -- or for that matter, why they'd been sent to Shiloh in the first place. Some had extreme side effects, like being so dizzy they had trouble walking or even sitting up in a chair.
  • Gee cited the case of at least one boy who was deprived of water as a "security measure"
  • Gee cited one child who'd testified about being given "seven pills every day" and another who said "I take pills every morning and every night,"
Shiloh is among 71 companies that receive funds from the federal government to house and supervise immigrant children deemed unaccompanied minors.
