Humanity facepalm. Trump is devoid of empathy, sympathy, humanity, class and yes, sacrifice.
Trump: “If you look at his wife, she was standing there, she had nothing to say, she probably — maybe she wasn’t allowed to have anything to say, you tell me.”
George Stephanopoulos: "He said you 'have sacrificed nothing and no one'"
Trump: "Well, that sounds, who wrote that? Did Hillary's script writers write it?"
Stephanopoulos: "How would you answer that father, What sacrifices have you made for your country"
Trump: "I think I've made a lot of sacrifices. I work very, very hard. I've created thousands and thousands of jobs, tens of thousands of jobs"
Stephanopoulos: "Those are sacrifices?"
Trump: "Oh, sure those are sacrifices. I think when I can employ thousands and thousands of people, take care of their education, take care of so many things even in military. I was very responsible, along with a group of people for getting the Vietnam Memorial built in downtown Manhattan, which to this day, people thank me for. I raised, and I have raised, and I have raised millions of dollars for vets. I'm helping the vets a lot.”
Unbelievable. Trump speaks like a middle schooler and acts like a kid still in his terrible 2's. The only problem is he's 70 years old.
Donald, I'm not being sarcastic, do the country a favor and sign up for some remedial English classes. Or ask your kids to help since that's what immigrant parents do! Or mend the wounds and ask Mr. Khizr Khan. I’m sure Mr. Khan would agree to help because his family are real Americans. And he’ll lend you his dictionary ;)
Donald, you start making some sacrifices by enrolling your grand kids into military school! #TrumpSacrifices
Backlash includes Staunch Conservatives and Republican’s
Tim Miller, a former communications director for Jeb Bush’s presidential campaign, called Mr. Trump’s comments “inhuman.”
Brett Stephens, “Trump's smear of Ghazala Khan is despicable. And if you don't agree, you're despicable.”
Ibrahim Hooper, the spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said on Saturday: “It’s really despicable that anyone, let alone a presidential candidate, would choose to dishonor the service of an American who gave his life for this nation.”
“Trump’s slur against Captain Khan’s mother is, even for him, beyond the pale,” tweeted John Weaver, a Republican strategist for Ohio Gov. John Kasich. “He has NO redeeming qualities.”

1/ This should be unnecessary to say, but in public life, any criticism from gold star families is legitimate and deserves to be heard.
2/ The religion of the gold star family is irrelevant. Their gave the last full measure of patriotism to us. A debt that can't be repaid.
3/ Whether the mother spoke at the DNC Convention is irrelevant. Maybe she was nervous. Maybe the husband spoke for both of them. Who cares.
5/ The urge to "hit back" at every critic must stop somewhere. If not Gold Star families, then where? Orphans? Priests? Lepers?
The founder of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America minced no words in a response to Trump’s defense of his “sacrifices.”
“For ANYONE to compare their ‘sacrifice’ to [sic] Gold Star family is insulting, foolish and ignorant,” Paul Rieckhoff said in a statement to ABC News.
“Especially someone who has never served himself and has no children serving,” the statement read. “Our country has been at war for a decade and a half and the truth is most Americans have sacrificed nothing. Most of them are smart and grounded enough to admit it.”
The Clinton campaign’s Karen Finney offered this: “Trump is truly shameless to attack the family of an American hero. Many thanks to the Khan family for your sacrifice, we stand with you.”
Clinton also addressed the episode Saturday. “I was very moved to see Ghazala Khan stand bravely and with dignity in support of her son on Thursday night,” Clinton said in a statement. “And I was very moved to hear her speak last night, bravely and with dignity, about her son’s life and the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country.”
Donald J Trump, Mr. Khan is correct, “You have sacrificed nothing and no one”
