Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Trump's calls to stop impeachment: 'The President is not a lawyer'

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Monday weighed in on President Donald Trump's assertion that the impeachment proceedings against him should stop, saying he "is not a lawyer."

The remarks from the 86-year-old justice came at an event in New York where she was awarded the Berggruen Institute Prize for Philosophy and Culture. 

She plans to donate the $1 million prize to a number of organizations that promote opportunities for women.

A press release issued by the Supreme Court on Friday noted that “there was no evidence of any remaining disease” and that Ginsburg “is resting comfortably and is expected to remain in the hospital for a few days.” Still, O’Reilly offered up his own political prognosis via Twitter. 

Justice Ginsburg is very ill. Another Justice appointment inevitable and soon. Bad news for the left.

'Please live forever': Ruth Bader Ginsburg fans wish her speedy recovery

Health of 85-year-old supreme court justice, now recovering from lung surgery, has been closely watched since Trump took office

On social media on Friday and Saturday, Ginsburg’s fans called for a “prayer circle”, cheered as she voted from her hospital bed to strike down Trump’s attempt to stop migrants seeking asylum, and cited her most famous decisions.

“Is it possible for me to donate all of my body parts to RBG?” asked the comedian Kathy Griffin.

On Friday the court said Ginsburg would remain in the hospital for a few days.  The court next meets on 7 January.
