My history crush is Lyudmila Pavlichenko.
She was a Ukrainian sniper during WW2, joining after the university she was studying at got bombed. She was so good and so well-known that the Nazis tried to bribe her to join them, and knew her by first name. Of course, she never did. Eventually she was injured and had to stop fighting, but not before killing over 300 people.
She’s the single deadliest woman sniper in history, was awarded a Hero of the Soviet Union (the Red Army’s highest distinction, equivalent to a Medal of Honor), and got a Woody Guthrie song written about her, because she’s amazing.
She was once asked by a journalist how many men she’d killed. Her response: “Not a man. Fascists. 309.”
Goal to beat is 300 dead fascists!
…309, you need 10 more
Lyudmila was a War Hero who killed Fascist NAZIS. In peace time, we #PunchNazis
