Trick or Treat: Trump, Republicans haunt at Bay Area house

An Alameda couple’s elaborate Halloween display spotlights what they say scares them the most: President Donald Trump and his administration.

For the second year — “Part Duh” the banner reads — homeowner Dan Balsam and his wife have decorated their yard with dozens of monsters bearing the names of political figures.

“Basically, this is our expression of our belief that the current administration is the scariest monsters you could think of,” Balsam said Tuesday as he stood in front of the house at Union Street and San Antonio Avenue.

Front and center this year is Brett Kavanaugh, wearing a beer hat and perusing his 1982 beach week calendar. Also sighted in the crowd: Stormy Daniels (“the only person Trump ever hired who was qualified to do the job,” her sign reads); Lindsey Graham “having a hissy fit”; Vladimir Putin on a horse (“he is, of course, an important part of the Trump administration — the reason why we have a Trump administration, in fact,” Balsam said); and a coffin representing the end of Susan Collins’ career.
