Do you think that the vikings will leave berk with their dragons? If so, how will it change Dawn's story?
Nooo, I don’t… I know in the trailer we see Berk getting destroyed so, it’s clear that something is going to happen to Berk that may cause the vikings to relocate as well as the dragons. And maybe they leave Berk via dragons, which would be together, but if you mean in the very end of the movie? Then nah I still think the dragons and vikings will ultimately go their separate ways.
One way or another that is how Mr Dean has intended it to end, with HTTYD 3 explaining why the dragons left, where they’ve gone, and if there’s any possibility of them returning. He did say that the challenge with D3 was to have it come to an end that “doesn’t entirely bum out the audience”, and gave an example such as E.T. was able to do such a feat. It is really hard to say just how the dragons team is gonna pull it off, but I trust they can do it. Considering the whole “There were dragons when I was a boy. Where they went, only a few know..” I concur that one way or another, the dragons are gonna be gone- I think Hiccup is going to realize the world is just not ready for a Dragon Viking utopia, and in order to protect what he loves (dragons and his people), he’ll have to let them go.
There really is soo many possibilities in how it will end exactly at this point, since there is still so much we don’t know, so its hard to say what that ending will look like exactly (whether it’s all at once or slowly tapers off), but the dragons are gonna go. The last installment is about letting go, it’ll be painful, bitter sweet, but oh so necessary. For Hiccup and Toothless both. I trust DreamWorks will give them the ending they deserve.

As far as Dawn goes: It’s funny because I was just thinking about where Dawn’s story would lie in the canon timeline, so that is such a good question. I know nothing about what happens in Dragons 3 making it a bit hard to work on her story that involves the rest of the gang. However, where her timeline mainly starts is pre-HTTYD2. Her story begins when she goes with Valka to the home of the Bewilderbeast, and is taken on as an apprentice at least a couple years prior to the events of HTTYD2 (She goes off on her own about 4-5 months before httyd2 occurs)
I was thinking that maybe in that 1 year gap between D2 and D3, during one of the gang’s rescue missions, their paths cross. She reunites with Valka and meets Hiccup for the first time. She doesn’t stay with them though, she doesn’t move to Berk- she can’t for reasons not even I have written out yet lol. I’m not sure where she then goes from there, but as far as what happens to Dawn after the events of HTTYD 3, it all depends on how the movie ends. ;)
