You're missing the point. It's not a revenge story. It's a movie about violence against the self. It's a movie about how fucked up it is that people internalize so much self-hatred that they literally despise the person they see in the mirror and will enact horrible violence on themselves.
Just saw it last night and DAMN, as a woman I've never seen self-hatred and loathing portrayed so poignantly before in my life. I felt seen, and I think a lot of other people felt it as well.
