kakucho is calm as he stands up from his chair, and excuses himself for the second time within the span of 20 minutes. he quickly exits the large room, his large steps echoing sharply against the cool, tile floor.

sanzu's emerald eyes squint suspiciously, as they follow kakucho's leaving figure. they're trained on his movement, only relaxing when kakucho's back disappears behind the marble wall. sanzu leans back against the plush cushion—kokonoi's most recent purchase—and stretches his legs up and over one another with a dragged groan.

there's a pause as sanzu thinks. "oi," he suddenly says, loud enough for everyone to hear—and everyone does hear.

MIKEY remembers when he, you, and your son went to get professional family photos taken. he had the liberty of choosing what outfits you three would wear—he insisted that you had to match in "one way or another." the fuss your son made at first was slightly embarassing, but it none of it mattered once mikey saw the gorgeous results of the photos. now framed sweetly in your home, mikey makes sure to glance at it every time he arrives home, and to wipe it down from dust and grime. him, the love of his life, and the one he created with you—altogether, forever.

MITSUYA remembers sewing his first outfit for his daughter: a pastel onesie adorned with her initials across the neckline. the first time he had slipped her little chubby arms into the sleeves, and her legs (that wouldn't quit kicking) into the pants, mitsuya felt immense waves of love and joy. it was an absolute perfect fit. feeling tears well up, mitsuya felt pride in being able to use his fashion skills to create something unique and special for his one and only child. also, the wide grin on her small face was nothing short of a blissful accomplishment for him. you steadied your breathing for what seemed like the fifth time now. your leg was starting to jitter, so you began to pace around the empty room for the past 20 minutes. there was no way you couldn't worry. not when the last time kakucho had texted you was this evening, at 5 past 7. glancing nervously at the clock, you read that it was nearing 10PM.

kakucho told you that he had an important matter to deal with: 'i'll be 100% fine on my own, please just stay here and wait for me at home, okay?'

what bullshit, you thought to yourself. in no way was kakucho a leader, much to his dismay. rather, he is a truthful follower, and you know him better than anyone else: if he was on his own, he wouldn't be "100% fine". therefore, you demanded he told you where he'd be, in case you allowed your worries to get the best of you. he hesitantly wrote it on a note for you.

so here you are now—in the backseat of a taxi—fingers fiddling with the piece of paper, crumpling it and unravelling it just to repeat the process. you steady your breathing once more.
