MELO MONDAYS
Carmelo Anthony “Before The Hate” Mini Documentary
Watch this video as Syracuse retires the Jersey of Knicks Star Carmelo Anthony. Well deserved. Carmelo averaged 22 and 10 as freshmen in his only season with the Orange men. He also lead them to a NCAA Title!
Pretty frustrating/disappointing game for UConn fans. For those who missed the Big East Quarterfinal match up between Syracuse and UConn heres a quick summary:
Syracuse won, but they probably shouldn't have. Halfway through the 2nd half it seemed like UConn was about to pull of a huge upset. The Garden was going quiet and momentum was all in UConn's favor. Then for the last 8 minutes or so, UConn fell victim to Syracuse's zone which somehow forced them to pass the ball back an forth every possesion only to have Shabazz Napier chuck up a desperation three or force a turn over going inside. I can't blame Napier because at least he tried. Jeremy Lamb disappeared as he does often and wasn't a factor even though he had a decent first half. I don't know if its mental or his teammates don't value his talent enough. Whatever it was, he didn't seem to want the ball at all in the last 2 minutes of the game. It was as if the team gave up.
Really, Drummond was the only player that kept the Huskies in it. He was dominant without having to get many touches or any type of offense due to the zone. Most his points came off dunks and putbacks. If you ask me, he could be the 1 pick in the draft off size and athleticism alone.
I gotta give Syracuse their props, of course. They're good.....obviously. They can really beat you in any number of ways; inside/outside or with their defense off transition. Today, they were too big and deep for UConn when it mattered. Most of all, they played with confidence, as they should. They're not a number 1 seed for nothing. When they got the upper hand back and sensed UConn chocking the game was over. A weaker team probably would've been upset. UConn definitely has the talent to beat Syracuse or any other team, but they sometimes lack the heart, drive and consistency and that you need to win big games.
Just an early reminder for all the NCAAB fans. One of these teams ain't leaving MSG happy tomorrow. UConn just might pull off the upset.....matter fact, I'm calling it.
