The DOOM Spaniels

Tristan's Fetch and Tug Buddy is liking having two pillows. Tristan is still finding this Very Difficult (when they're not anchored by TFaTB's head, which is different).

We've come to an agreement. When TFaTB isn't home, I flip one of the pillows forward to make Tristan a double sized pillow mattress. This seems to meet the young man's approval.

Well, Tristan. So this is my reward for taking you out into the pouring rain at groggy-o'clock, huh? I was too sleepy to put the blanket back when I got up, so you're going to lay your soggy little body in my spot and be cute at me.

Oho, and now that you've dried yourself off on my sheets, you're going to go snuggle with somebody else. Looking all comfy and smug. Uh-huh. Treacherous mischief munchkin.

The Spaniels are always so very proud of the toys they find themselves.

Is there *anything* quite as smug as a spaniel with a toy he's very proud of, when he's trying to lure you into a chase?

"Iiiiii've GOT it, Iiiiii've GOT it, and you DON'T!" *prance prance head high bouncy prance*

We ran some errands yesterday evening, leaving the dogs at home alone. Yvaine was her usual overjoyed to see us when we returned. She wanted to play with me, which is also usual. Interestingly, Tristan tried to play, too, and she told him off until she was done playing with me.

Buuuuuut when Yvaine was done playing with me, she pounced Tristan, and tussled him until he was exhausted and just laid down.

Then returned to bed, flumped herself down, and made the most self-satisfied, smug, contented sigh I have ever heard out of a dog.

This is the smug, self-satisfied snuggle of an Yvaine who knows that SHE doesn’t have to go outside first thing in the morning, because she is a dainty lady with polished manners.

I had some things to do out in the barn yesterday. SOMEBODY took advantage of my distraction to stand under the senior mare while she was dripping soaked alfalfa, for much longer than usual.
