I love your kids' freckled noses!

Also, when I was a kid, we had Jammer, who was some form of Unspecified Spaniel and he's a bit of a center to the Venn Diagram that is your pups. I only have one picture of him on my phone, but he looked more like Gwyn but he was Tristan's colors (he looks black and gray but that's just the bad quality of the photo. He was black and white with little black spots in the white area, which i think is called ticking). He was a very good boy, and his name ended up being a prophecy lol. My mom named him when he got him from the pound (it was originally Scout) and he ended up being extremely fond of laying horizontally across the hallways (like nose to one wall, butt to the other) and as you can see, the house had black and white tile that was over the entire house except the bedrooms, with the halls having black diamonds down the middle, so he blended in, especially in the dark. So he was very much a Jammer of Hallways.

Jammies would have passed 10 or 11 years ago now, and I miss my oreo boy every day. He was actually terrified of cameras, which is why I have so few photos. Luckily, he was very used to seeing us playing with handheld games, and I got a Nintendo DSi not long before he passed, which had a camera function that he wasn't scared of, though the quality isn't great)

I'd love to have another Span one day (and another Lab, as my other childhood dog was a yellow lab named Riley, who passed in 2020) though due to my living situation, that's not viable. So I'm living vicariously through all of you dogblrs out there lol. Sorry if this is a bit rambling, I ended up making myself cry

Anyway, please give your Spans my love.

Love given on your behalf, and thank you for telling me about Jammer. He sounds like he was a wonderful mischief maker, even while snoozing 💖💖💖

🎶 You had plenty money 1922

but you let other puppies

make a fool of you 🎵

As it's hot weather again, but the Big Doggies are still fuzzy, they're getting nice cool hose baths. [first photo: two soggy dripping horses]

Naturally, the first thing a wet horse does is to roll and cover herself in dirt or sand. Tristan found this a bit startling, the first time one of the wet Big Doggies suddenly flopped down on the ground and wriggled fairly close to him. [second photo: Tristan crouching, braced to bolt or pounce as a grey horse rolls]

But he just backed away a bit and watched with big round eyes as those legs flailed around in the air, then Firefly stood up and shook herself off. [third photo: Tristan a little further away, standing more calmly, grey horse in the middle of a good body shake]

The next day, when wet Big Doggies went to roll, Tris just moved out of the way and kept sniffing elsewhere. It's boring now.

So here's that exercise pen again, now serving its intended purpose. Tristan can come out to the barn with us (on a lead), and be safely ensconced in the pen while we feed the horses. He won't get underfoot while our hands are full. Tristan can see the horses on the way to and from the barn, and he can watch from a safe place while we--and Yvaine--interact quietly with the horses. Firefly adores small animals, and would like to get a closer look at the puppy, but she is a Very Good Girl and does not step beyond the mats laid under the barn gate. Firefly will have to be content, for now, with seeing Tristan as he goes through the pasture. [Image Description 1: Tristan, a black and white cocker puppy, sits in an exercise pen in a barn. Image Description 2: Firefly, a grey horse, stands at a pair of gates, poking her head through the middle. Firefly wears a long flymask, to prevent sunburn on her face.]
