Right after we adopted Merlin in 2015, I took this picture. I looked at the two hypno-spaniel faces, and thought, “Oh, we are DOOMed.” We’ve been calling them “the DOOM Spaniels” ever since.
@hazelhound 's Hazel and Evelyn pic yesterday made me think of this day, way way back when I first realized how devastating two sets of Spaniel Eyes working in tandem can be.
Different eyes now, but same effect. Why am I in the kitchen and why am I holding an empty carrot bag?

I don't know what happened here. It was in the middle of a bunch of perfectly normally lit photos of the same pose. Funny, though.

It's chilly, and the Spaniels are nekkid, and they're not spoiled in the slightest little bit. Merlin vigorously "nested" with Yvaine's white blanket, digging at it and bunching it up, until he pulled it all the way across the bed. Then he laid down next to it, because he is Merlin. So Yvaine is under Merlin's blue blanket, and Merlin got covered up with Yvaine's white blanket. Silly spaniels.
PUT THE CUDDLES ON THE BELLY AND NOBODY GETS HURT.
So tiny. Sometimes I forget.
Yvaine is an absolute trip when she tries to get me to follow her.
*scamper* “Little Timmy has fallen down the crisper drawer again! Hurry, follow me to the carrots!”
(Well, how can we be sure… unless we question it?)

Successful stealth cuddles! Yvaine *likes* Merlin, but he's not very precise with where he puts his feet, and she often gets up and moves when he gets close. Sometimes he manages to cuddle without stepping on her, and it makes him happy.
Yvaine had a bath, then a blow-dry, then a clip. But she still thought she was wet and needed to towel herself dry on the bed. This is also pretty much how she plays, except that the play is accompanied by the sound of an angry pigeon (Yvaine's play-growl).
Nekkid spaniels! They got clipped. Merlin’s bangs are all gone :( They were so adorable.
They look awfully similar in photos, I know. With indoor lighting they even look sort of the same color.
Merlin is solid butterscotch except for tiny white snips on nose & chest, male/fixed, probably about 10. We’ve had him two years, and before that he was a neglect/starvation/heartworms case. He thinks it’s glorious to be a housepet. He’s got a long nose and his third eyelids are brown.
Yvaine is nearly 10, female/fixed. She’s white with red splotches, but the red has faded unevenly–I think that’s roan? We’ve had her six years, and before that she was probably a backyard breeder. She thinks everyone is her puppy and takes that responsibility very seriously. At the same time she contains outrageous amounts of happy and silly. She has a short wide nose, her third eyelid is white, so she often has a white ring around her eyes. Her head will always get clipped short so I can apply topical allergy meds.
