10 year old me discovering the soap opera All My Children right when Bianca Montgomery's coming out storyline was happening and my baby gay self had no idea what it meant to be a lesbian. It was my first fandom long before Tumblr and AO3 back in the day when we depended on Fanfiction.net. It's 22 years later and I still read the fanfics & watch playlists online.

The 20th anniversary of Bianca’s coming out just passed, I realized it’s legit the most iconic lgbt storyline I’ve ever seen. I remember my 10 year old baby gay self watching it thinking “oh ok so there’s a word for why I feel the way I do about girls and I’m not the only one.”

Used to sneak to watch it because my mom felt I was too young for soap operas when she found out I set the vcr to record AMC. I started staying up late because SoapNet aired the Mon-Fri episodes in a marathon from 12am-5am and I had to be at my bus stop by 5:50.

BAM was the original friends to lovers, it was the first fandom I was ever in, I still read their fanfics. Kids these days don’t know a true slow-burn like those of us who went on the 5 year long rollercoaster of waiting for Binks and Mags to make it official lol AMC walked so that all these other shows with wlw could run.

The classic “twin switch-a-roo” ship that started as FAB, Frankie and Bianca until they shot Frankie dead!! You’re telling me they were there!?!? The ship that I had to watch on a soap oprah at the age of 11 because regular tv shows weren’t even ready to fully explore a young female character discovering she’s a lesbian! Eden Riegel and Elizabeth Hendrickson were at ClexaCon!?!? Fuck my life -_-
