Series recap: Marleyan scientist Hange Zoe receives a hostile welcome from Levi and his regiment when they inadvertently wash ashore on the coastal border near Wall Maria. Levi is suspicious of the Military Police’s involvement with a group of defectors caught fleeing the island.

Her hands shook, from excitement or uncertainty. "This is finally my chance to make a supremely cool exit! Don't take this away from me, Levi."
And then his fist was on her chest, firm and warm. "Dedicate your heart."
Hange had spent every waking hour of the past decade by his side. She knew very well that he'd only ever saluted Zackley, rested his fist on his heart, but his lips never once spoke those words, the soldier's vow. Levi couldn't dedicate what was already with humanity.
Hange's heart beat against his fist. If he could, he'd have stayed back and would've probably slowed down the Rumbling successfully. But he couldn't, nor could he keep her back.
So he dedicated his heart to her. And if it died with Hange, so be it.
