Growing up one of my all-time favorite shows was Digimon. When Digimon Adventure first aired in America I was in first grade. I watched it religiously and even recorded episodes on a VCR tape when I knew I'd have to miss them. My friends and I would play Digimon at recess even going as far as bringing our digivolving figures to act along. We always had our Digivices and spent hours walking around, shaking them, and watching each other fight enemies that popped up.
As the franchise grew we watched everything. Adventure 02, Tamers, and Frontier. We lived for it. I would always draw Digimon and play demos of the Digimon World games at stores on PlayStations they had set up. I had a genuine love for the series.
I would find myself laying in bed thinking back to when I saw Digimon Adventure and all kinds of memories would rush back. I'd tear up and be nostalgic like I'd never felt. There were nights I would actually cry just thinking about the joy I experienced through these lovable monsters and all the adventures I had been on with them. When Savers and Xros Wars came out when I was older I was more than willing to hop back into that world and have new adventures. Digimon Adventure tri was pure bliss from the art all the way to the music.
This series has touched me so much and as I'm typing this I'm going through another episode of pure nostalgia that makes me long for fun times with my friends and childhood all while making me so happy. I want to play the games. I want to watch the show. I want to collect more merchandise. I can never truly put into words how much this series means to me. It's given me years of happiness and I think that is special beyond measure. If I could find a way to thank everyone who made it possible I would in a heartbeat.
I often wonder about shows that have impacted others on this level and would love to hear their stories. It's great to bond over passions and interests, so if someone has a story or a specific memory of any show I'd love to hear them all.
