please, PLEASE give dragon age veilguard a chance the writing is a little stiff or awkward here and there but it's a beautiful game about love, loss, heritage and culture and I never cried this much over a video game ever also the direction of where they take the lore is very bold and interesting

it's also flawless from a technical standpoint I'm so real rn the hairphysics are like 10 years ahead of our time

Fandom pro tip: engage with fandom based on what you love, not what you hate. Goes for ships and characters, plot points etc.

Integration of the Keep would solve many of the problems tbh, when for players it would be more obvious that certain choices from previous games aren't related to the certain characters arcs continuations. Bioware underestimated how few extra-lines from characters and letters could be fundamentally important for the less outrage they get and this world feeling more personal to everyone.

Anyway, I'm still agree that the world feels sanitised.

The writing overall is worse.

Game design at some parts of the game is outdated.

And Rook lacks more "assholish" interpretation of this character, with obvious consequences of this approach, could be even just locking up personal quests for companions and getting the worst ending. Like just the same consequences when you just skip them.

And yes, they did it again with character concepts, I want to find someone who looked at Morrigan, Dorian and Isabella from first iteration of the game and said, meh, let's go for boobies and Dorian wearing haircut Solas were wearing 2000 years ago, and we don't even have a joke about it in the game.

Personally I agree that the keep or even a slightly larger decision import ingame would be ideal, but at the same time I PERSONALLY can explain it away with the game's awful dev cycle and how badly they needed to ship it asap. Fully open to this being cope tho.

I do agree the world is defanged in some aspects, simplified in others, I wish there was more nuance

Idk I find every game so far had bad writing as well as good, we just remember the latter better. VG does pick up around the midpoint at least for main quests. It's a mixed bag but there's good along with bad.

I don't mind Rook being a more defined character with plucky anime protag vibes however you slice, works for the story, but yeah hurts roleplay

Idk I liked how Morrigan looks other than some goofy face animations, Bela's outfit has unfortunate elements but overall I think she looks (as in the face) okay? And idc I think Dorian is hot in VG and he already had kinda this hair in the Tresspasser end slides. Wears it better than Solas for sure but I'm for one glad they didn't give solas the concept art locs and idk I'm fond of how much it gives him a scrawny punk kid vibe LMAO

do you fucking know how many things about a culture you could learn from an empty carton of milk??? the material its made of being used for storing a relatively small amount of milk meaning that material was cheap and easily produced in said culture. the fact that it has nutritional values and expiration date listed hinting that milk was purchased from specialized producers instead of farmed individually in every household. the color of the carton - probably mostly white - and any pictures on it showing that there were many competing sellers of milk that had to get creative to advertise their specific milk to the buyer with pleasant associations. from that we can tell that the culture was technologically and economically advanced. probably a million other things when you're an actual scientist and not a tumblr poster. if they took shit from a latrine it would gain cultural importance because now they took it for some reason and the reason is cultural
