The main interest here is that the cardigan and tights are made from the same fabric. Also my camera gives up any hope of detail in the dress fabric when it's not up-close.
I made the jacket, shirt, and skirt all in July of last year--I made each of them for an individual reason, but noticed they would coordinate well (this is the kind of thing I mean when I say I can recreate the randomness of thrifting with stuff I've sewn.) I made the tights a few months later.
I'm wearing this dangly skeleton pin that I got ages ago from Dollar General, but never really wore because it was a gold tone. I painted it in 2011, also replacing the trick-or-treat bag hanging from the cane with some chains and keys (I seem to have added a chain since taking that photo)
And, yes, I dyed my hair considerably more purple than usual. (I decided to use up the last of an old tube of purple dye. There was more in there than I realized.)
Outfit repeater! Well, almost. My skirt today is not as full as the one I wore in April (I did make both of them, along with the shirt and vest and today's leggings.) I had forgotten how much I liked this shirt/vest/tie combo until I was looking at outfit photos yesterday
I mainly wanted to wear this cardigan today, and I haven't worn these thick sewn tights for a while, so why not add those, too
I don't drink coffee--that's milk boiled with sugar and tea masala spices
I thrifted the fantastically odd pastel bagpiper print silk fabric years ago, never sure what to do with it, until I realized that a pattern I'd also thrifted years ago would be just right. I sewed the shirt last year, and this is the first time I've worn it, because it was only yesterday that I realized it would coordinate well with this wool skirt I also made from thrifted fabric and thrifted pattern last year
Still very happy with this jacket--that amount of trim and precision are not normal for my sewing projects. I made the dress and tights, too.
Also, I was not chastising the plant. I was chastising a noisy truck.
When I was younger, I sewed so many ridiculous, fun clothes that I knew I'd never have an occasion to wear, because I never went anyplace that would require dressing up.
I eventually realized that I didn't want to expend so many resources and so much effort to make those ridiculous, never-worn clothes--oh, I still make the ridiculous stuff, but now I wear it around the house
Of course I had to try this jacket with the dress I made from the floral print knit that I used for the bands
I also decided the jacket's vast uninterrupted expanses could play host to some brooches
I made both dresses, and, yes, they have pockets. I also made the waist...thing (it closes with a zipper, so it's not a corset), the cropped leggings, and the jacket.
I actually made the pink dress yesterday while wearing the red dress 😅
An attempt to composite today's outfit
I made the jacket, dress, beret, and bracelet/cuff, and I've photographed everything I've made for years, so those are easy enough, and I just happen to be wearing one of my few pairs of recently-purchased non-thrifted shoes, and a watch that's still being made, so those are from their respective websites, but, hosiery? So much of my hosiery is clearanced, thrifted, and years old, so the best I can do is "not really close but has the same spirit" (the socks) or "the design is right but the colors aren't, time to edit" (the tights)
an attempt to photograph it (again using the old camera, because the lenses I have for the other one require me to be farther away and I don't feel like cleaning up the sewing project on that side of the room)
I made the shirt randomly, not really sure what I'd wear it with. I think this is fun.
Here's the dress I made recently, worn and ~accessorized~
