Like I'm sorry but the "working class" (and by this I mean exactly what Bernie Sanders means when he says it, white male trade workers) chose racism and sexism over self preservation idk what else to tell you at this point. They buy easily into the idea that undocumented people are coming for their jobs despite all evidence to the contrary, they're mad that women can't be shut out of workplaces or earning potential. I said back when the teamsters refused to endorse because their membership supported trump that this surprised absolutely nobody who grew up in a union house (even if their parents were liberals like my dad was).
This is why I'm tired of hearing about the white working class because the white working class is a fucking tar pit. I get that they're a significant part of the electorate and there's no way to fully abandon them and still ever win an election but like. At this point they have to want to fix the country there's no amount we can do to change their minds.
