this is something i’ve already talked about, but the changes made to the interactions between kaz and inej were necessary for the show. not only because it’s an adaptation but also because a tv show is a completely different medium for storytelling. we don’t know or hear kaz or inej’s thoughts and thus many of those things need to be expressed through acting and dialogue.
also i’ve seen some complaints about kaz being too emotionally open with inej, and i kinda disagree with that statement. when he says things like ‘he never had a saint to watch over him, not like inej has’ or when he says that ‘he needs her’ he always says it in the context of their professional relationship / companionship. they’re both part of a team and he says these things to make clear to her that she’s a good addition to the team. BUT of course the subtext of these statements is romantic, but again it’s still just subtext!

Kaz Brekker and Inej Ghafa in the Shadow and Bone Teaser Trailer
If Kaz and Inej kiss on screen, even though Kaz canonically has a phobia of being touched, I will not hesitate to attack Netflix
