actually metaphors aside we should talk about cyclists as an oppressed group. road rage is class warfare

Avatar
jonpertwee

There's a part of this that's super valid in that road rage is a legitimate problem and a lot of motorists are so fucking entitled and act like the road belongs to them, not cyclists or pedestrians. I say this as someone who doesn't drive. But I want to make the point that a lot of cyclists are super fucking rich tech bros.

"Data from the Census Bureau has suggested that bicycling and walking are much more common as a means of commute to work at lower income levels. The proportion of workers who walk or bike to work is progressively lower across income categories, up to about $100,000 per year, beyond which the prevalence is fairly stable or slightly higher at very high-income levels."

As I touched on in the reblogs of this post, the image of cycling as an upper-class activity is drawn from selective sources.

i pass the bong to Diogenes,

He takes it and lights the bowl before looking me in the eyes and throwing it back, chugging the bong water in one long uninterrupted swallow. I know he knows how to smoke a bong; he knows i know. I am afraid, and he delights in this.

Finished some fan art of Beizel from OOPs, then made two 'unrestored' versions for my mind knows no peace and there is a deep irony in an art restorer making her own work look old and damaged

Why am I like this. Why did I make a digital painting, then obscure it with 'old varnish', then emulate 'inexpertly photo taken of painting with old varnish', then make 'inexpertly taken photo of paintimg with old varnish with cleaning tests for restoration'

I made an on-canvas version on the train home from work

Let's be honest here, when zionists scamjacket users it's not just trying to invalidate them or Own them. Trying to get people to distrust Palestinian pleas is murder-by-proxy.

i would like everyone here to take a moment and look at this twitter thread by a zionist hasbarist:

if you look through this thread, which this man made to cast doubt on the story about a man whose newborn twins were killed while he went to laminate their birth certificates, you can literally see exactly the same rhetoric people use on here:

just general accusations like "this seems fishy/his ear lobe doesn't look the same from this photo and this photo/who laminates a birth certificate in a war zone/look at how this gfm is raising money but it's based in cleveland?/the idf denies this" and he does it all with a veneer of concern trolling like he's actually just worried about the people who feel bad about this story, the exact same thing zionists here do

but this is a real story. it was reported by multiple outlets. there were eyewitnesses to the strike. there were video interviews with the father.

beyond that, his wife jumana was in contact with Heal Palestine, an american organization headed by steve sosebee (who founded the Palestine Children's Relief Fund) and had a well-followed facebook page where she documented her life, pregnancy and announced her delivery of her twins

even that wasn't enough for the zionist! "what kind of mom spends her entire day on Facebook posting and answering people?" he writes on a tweet that has 2.1k likes

this is basic, alex jones sandy-hook-esque conspiracy denialism but in israel it is extremely widespread and it's standard state policy. its also part of the structure of genocide. zionists literally utilized a US PR consultant to invent "pallywood" to cast doubt on palestinian murders caught on video in 2001 during the second intifada.

obviously (i've said this before) practice caution when you look for places to donate because there are people trying to take advantage of palestinian trauma, make sure they are vetted and reblog them from users you trust, or donate through verified aggregators like gazafunds.com if you find the process here intimidating

but practice even more caution when you uncritically reblog users who accuse all palestinians of being scammers or engage in genocide denialism. more than once i've seen these "concerned" bystanders lie about the conditions on the ground in gaza, belittle the scale of israeli atrocity, or overtly imply palestinians are inherently untrustworthy. this is not a coincidence: it's deliberate. as OP says, it's murder-by-proxy and no matter how convincing their skepticism seems, you should not take the consequences of uncritically sharing this lightly. real people are dying, under siege and starvation, and the people capable of doing that are also engaging in constant propaganda and disinformation to make it possible.

the user from the thread above is literally a hasbarist, he is a zionist who doesn't give a shit that he's lying about a man who is sobbing in front of the whole world because he lost his two newborn children and his wife. he is actively engaged in manufacturing consent for palestinian genocide and israeli reputation laundering. it seems abhorrent because he does it so blatantly, but even the seemingly empathetic liberal zionist users on here are doing the same thing he does. don't do their job for them.

when it comes to consciousness raising you can spend time telling someone “crazy” is a slur or you can spend time explaining that what looks like “care” or “cure” or “mercy” to them is actually eugenics or abuse. one of these projects has to precede the other and i bet you can guess which one i would prioritize

you’re either going to build a base of clueless liberals who learn by rote to nitpick their language for anything with the remotest connection to ability, or you’re going to help them develop the alertness and critical eye necessary to recognize eugenics and abuse. i don’t think those things are mutually compatible in an immediate timeframe, because one locates both the root and branch of oppression in a disembodied cloud of language and thought, and the other locates it in the real material structures that we need to confront immediately in order to save actual lives. not saying “crazy” isn’t going to get anyone out of forced institutionalization

Ally is going to court tomorrow. I'm sure they would rather we focus our energies on the people of Gaza at this time, so I will wish them good luck, but highlight fundraisers which have yet to meet their goal.

@fidaa-family2 extended goal due to ongoing costs [fundraiser link]

@virushasanhh Youseff Hassan, (unvetted) Fundraiser: €1,151/€25,000

@supportgaza Mahmoud Khalaf €31,973/€55,000 raised

This is Farah's 'GoFundMe' (she's not that far off from her goal :) ) -

You can clips of the situation people are facing in Ghazza that she's uploaded onto her Instagram handle - farah.n.ammar.

The entity delights in taking away these people's limbs, sight and dignity - the football players, the journalists, just every day humans.

Please boost and raise awareness.

mohammed iwais (verified) is still the sole provider for his 27 family members, including his siblings and their young kids. his sister is recovering from a quadcopter bullet wound; she's been able to start walking again, but this is still a very difficult time, especially since medicine is prohibitively expensive in gaza right now. on top of that, the whole family is bracing for the changing weather, which will add to their daily expenses just for survival.

they need roughly 7.3k USD to get to their next goal. remember to check the conversion rates! 10 USD = 103 SEK

a little over 500 USD still needed to reach their next goal. please remember these donations are the only financial support for 27 family members whose homes and jobs have been destroyed by israeli bombing -- they are all in an incredibly precarious position right now, and absolutely cannot afford for this campaign to stagnate.

only 2 donations in the last 6 hours, this family needs more support than that

it is truly almost incomprehensible that israel's week-long bombing of lebanon is the most intense aerial campaign in the 21st century, outpacing the american bombing of raqqa and anything russia has done. it's insane. all carried out with the full agreement of the US government

this is, moreover, admitted by CNN:

Israel has pummeled Lebanon with an unprecedented airstrike campaign in less than three weeks, killing over 1,400 people, injuring nearly 7,500 others and displacing more than one million people from their homes, according to the Lebanese health ministry. The bombardment, which Israel says is targeting Hezbollah strongholds in the country, marks the world’s “most intense aerial campaign” outside of Gaza in the last two decades, according to the conflict monitoring group Airwars. Israel’s strikes are occurring at “a level and intensity that Israel’s own allies just simply would not have carried out in the last 20 years,” Emily Tripp, director of the UK-based group, told CNN. She pointed to the United States-led military campaign against ISIS in 2017, where, at the height of the battle for Raqqa – the terror group’s de facto capital – 500 munitions were deployed in a single day. Over the course of two days, on September 24 and September 25, the Israel military said it used 2,000 munitions and carried out 3,000 strikes. In comparison, for most of America’s 20-year war in Afghanistan, the US carried out less than 3,000 strikes a year, barring the first year of the invasion, where around 6,500 strikes were carried out – according to data from Airwars analyzed by CNN. “This isn’t normal,” Tripp said of both the scale and size of Israel’s strikes on Lebanon.  While Israel’s air campaign is extremely “unusual,” Tripp said its assault on Gaza over the last year – where nearly 60% of buildings are estimated to have been damaged from Israeli strikes – have normalized such mass assaults. crazy that soy can be turned into both flavorless texture and textureless flavor. maybe we should try just keeping both?

Let's try for neither. Take the texture and the flav

Oh wait that's soy milk. Rescind post.
