A Gatsby Afternoon in Forrest Hill Park.
It was on one of those final days of summer when the heat becomes a little less unbearable but a parasol or boat hat would not be an unusual accompaniment to help in blocking the sun. Well, they would be unusual on many other circumstances. However, on such a day, the Art Deco Society of Virginia welcomed guests from Richmond, as well as Newport News and Washington D.C., to the lawn of Forrest Hill Park to attend a Gatsby Afternoon Picnic. Taking sartorial inspiration from the jazz age, picnickers and guests enjoyed a time transcendent afternoon.
The Art Deco Society of Virginia is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of awareness of the Commonwealth's rich art deco history though fashion, music, art and architecture. For more information on membership and monthly events, please visit their website and facebook group.
