I love Garnett’s. It’s cozy, relaxing and the menu is straightforward. Garnett’s is the first place I suggest going when making plans to catch up with a friend. After a long day at work, I sometimes come here to sit at the counter with a magazine to clear my mind. This is my favorite restaurant in Richmond. Sometimes sandwiches are the best medicine for everything in life and I’m happy this restaurant is here.

We have partnered with our friends at Saxon Shoes to give away a free pair of shoes from the Johnston & Murphy Est. 1850 Collection. The Est. 1850 Collection celebrates the heritage of Johnston & Murphy with vintage looks that employ times craft. For a chance to win, simply like and reblog this post with the pair of shoes from the collection that you would like to receive for yourself or give as a gift! A winner will be determined at random on Friday November 30th.

At the beginning of September, Dirty Richmond quietly celebrated its 3 year anniversary. It's amazing what originally started as two friends sitting in the middle of the VCU campus every day in-between classes 3 years ago has lead to.

There's a few things in the works but for now, I'm going to take sometime off from daily posting. A month? A few months? I'm not sure but I plan to be back to regular posting in the future.

What's the cause of this? I was super lucky and was able to make a career change to exactly what I want to be doing. In the mean time, I'm still blogging at brianmcdinosaur.tumblr.com.

Richmond's own, Angela Bacskocky, will debut her fall collection at Need Supply Co. this Friday from 6-8pm. The collection, Nest, deals with themes of isolation juxtaposed with feelings of comfort and made completely of natural fibers. Click [here] to view Dirty Richmond's previous coverage of Nest and visit the facebook event to RSVP and for more information.

It was on one of those final days of summer when the heat becomes a little less unbearable but a parasol or boat hat would not be an unusual accompaniment to help in blocking the sun. Well, they would be unusual on many other circumstances. However, on such a day, the Art Deco Society of Virginia welcomed guests from Richmond, as well as Newport News and Washington D.C., to the lawn of Forrest Hill Park to attend a Gatsby Afternoon Picnic. Taking sartorial inspiration from the jazz age, picnickers and guests enjoyed a time transcendent afternoon.

The Art Deco Society of Virginia is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of awareness of the Commonwealth's rich art deco history though fashion, music, art and architecture. For more information on membership and monthly events, please visit their website and facebook group.
