Pete continuing to do his thing even after all these years

Let me tell a story about Patrick Stump. I followed around his solo tour with a couple of friends. And he did hang out after every show, talked to everybody and remembered faces. One friend asked to interview him for Icecreamheadaces, which is a very old place on LJ that is now dead and gone. He not only agreed, but then decided he needed to do it RIGHT THAT MINUTE. So, we waited. Because he met with everyone that came up to him. Every last person. And then? He just… walked away with us. Just grabbed his little backpack and walked down the dark streets of X city with us to find a place to do this interview. Along the way, this man came up to us. He asked Patrick, “are you famous? I saw you in the theater.” “Just locally,” is what Patrick said. WE WEREN’T IN CHICAGO, FOR THE RECORD. THIS LITTLE BASTARD COULDN’T JUST SAY YES. Anyway, the man that had come up to us said he was a rapper. He talked for a minute about it, mentioned that he was going to be putting an EP out soon. “Dozen Roses, don’t forget the name,” the man said. He didn’t have a card or anything, so Patrick pulled off his backpack, wrote the name down, stuck it in his pocket, and said he couldn’t wait. And you know what? I don’t think he was just being placating. He wanted to hear what Dozen Roses could do and was excited about it. We went about our way, Patrick gave us some of his precious down time to do this interview, and we left when the bus had to. Like the music, don’t like the music, it doesn’t matter. Patrick Stump is a fantastic human being and I just want everyone to know that.

Patrick gave hugs to everyone in that line who wanted one, for both of the solo shows I went to. He was so obviously happy that people wanted to listen. I miss those shows.

I’ve reblogged this gifset before, seen it a bunch of times on my dash, but never checked the notes (which is unlike me) and these two stories are hurting my heart - both for the fact that that he did those things AND for the fact I missed it. I got to SP three years too late but, much as I love FOB now, Patrick will always be the one that I am in awe of, especially during that era. Fetch me my DeLorean and some uranium, I’m about to hit 88 mph😭😭😭
