#GOD I LOVED THIS PART WHAT A SMUG LIL SHIT #i just feel like that ever since hikaru got on board the enterprise #he’s felt like he has something to prove #because he wasn’t even supposed to be there; he was the second choice #and even though his mistake saved the lives of everyone on board it was still a mistake #and a rookie one at that #and yeah he probably feels like he redeemed himself a little when he and kirk did the mutual #saving each others lives stuff #but i think this moment right here #is the first time he’s SERIOUSLY felt like he’s done something impressive #like he’s done something worthwhile #like he’s proven himself—not just to mccoy and not just to the crew #but to himself and that makes him grin just a little #even though theyre in the middle of a crisis #it just makes him smile (tags via suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuulu)

#bones has sort of grudgingly become the ship psychiatrist #not by his own choice mind you #but people come to him for advice or a shoulder to cry on or just to vent their worries and frustrations #(bones grumbles and pretends to catch up on paperwork when anyone comes in for these unscheduled sessions but he always tries his best to help out #most people don’t realize on their first trip to him that he was actually paying close attention the whole time until later in the day) #and sometimes sulu comes in and tells him he doesn’t think people take him seriously #and he resigns himself to this fact because mccoy always just wordlessly stares at him and doesn’t offer him comfort one way or another #because mccoy is anything but a liar and contrary to popular belief he does listen to gossip and sulu isn’t always taken seriously by the bridge crew #but when mccoy turned to him and said this #he knew he was being honest with him #that sulu is a force to be reckoned with and should always be taken seriously #and sulu’s happy #because after all his time on the ship#he’s finally realized #his fears were baseless after all #oops i ficced it (tags via jdeforestkelley)
