Not all Iowans, but the approximately 120,000 Iowans expected to vote in the Iowa GOP caucuses. They are among the most socially conservative voters in America — roughly 60 percent are evangelical Christians. So the 14 Republican candidates still in the race are tripping over themselves to appeal to this tiny subset. “There’s a segment there that would be sympathetic to this,” said Dennis Goldford, arofessor of Political Science at Iowa’s Drake University and author of “The Iowa Caucuses: The Making of A Media Event.” “Not all them, but a segment.” Even Goldford, a longtime Iowa politics observer was shocked when former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, then a White House hopeful, got one of the loudest responses at a candidate forum in Iowa when he said: “If Washington refuses to enforce the border, Texas will. This problem has dragged on long enough.” “Here we are, 1,000 miles from the U.S. border, but I was astounded by a rapturous applause that he got from these Iowans,” Goldford said. With such rhetoric, time and place and facts don’t seem to matter. Since 2012, almost 2,000 Syrian refuges have resettled in the U.S. No terrorist activity has been linked to them.

This is why Steve King should be brought to heel. These xenophobes in Iowa are poluting the politic.

It's left wing sarcasm, you say? Re-think that, if you can or will:

When refugees are stuck in refugee camps, get turned back from Europe {or any other nation}, or suffer discrimination upon arrival, it helps to make ISIS's point for them. It gives the impression, rightly or wrongly, that Europe really is hostile to Muslims.
ISIS's attacks on Europe {or any other nation}, whether by design or not, could thus serve the group by deepening the backlash against refugees.
"Having this wedge driven, where [ISIS] is able to intensify the backlash against refugees might help with recruiting efforts by extremists to recruit among the refugee population," Gartenstein-Ross says.
"Game it out from their perspective," he continues. "If they were able to move operatives into Europe {or any other nation}, posing as migrants and refugees, then that's a major win for them," both as an act of terror and to increase anti-refugee sentiment in Europe {or any other nation}.

The fallout from Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) patently false statement that undocumented immigrants were responsible for the destructive wildfires in Arizona continued this week, as his fellow Arizona senator Jon Kyl (R) and Maricopa Sheriff Joe Arpaio entered the fray. “Sheriff Joe,” as he’s called, may be the most notoriously ruthless law enforcement official in the country. He’s known for cramming detained immigrants into inhumane outdoor “tent cities” he proudly likens to concentration camps, and for parading prisoners around in pink underwear, in addition to his numerous legal violations.

He said he had been cutting meat at a restaurant around the corner when he accidently sliced off a hunk of his flesh. More than 24 hours later, blood kept soaking through the toilet paper, and his finger still throbbed. This raised an obvious question: Why didn't he go to the hospital? "Because I don't have papers," said the man, who would give only his first name, Ramon. Ramon, 35, an undocumented immigrant from Hermosillo, Mexico, is just one example of how many of the estimated 400,000 illegal immigrants in Arizona have gone deeper underground to avoid contact with the authorities since Gov. Jan Brewer signed the toughest immigration law in the nation one year ago today.
